Apparently its possible to go over 1000mph on Gran Turismo 3!! I found this on a web site, i havent tryed it let as i havent got that far in the game.

Here is how to reach speeds in excess of 1000mph.

1. Make sure you have a car with over 1000 HP. like the Escudo,Gt-One Race Car, or R390 GT1 Race Car.
2. Equip the largest stage turbo kit or N/A tune possible.
3. Decrease spring rate to the smallest possible value for both front and rear.
4. Decrease ride height to the smallest possible value for both front and rear.
5. Set the gear ratio's auto setting to the highest level possible.
6. Set the gear ratio's final gear from about 2.600 to 3.000.
7. Decrease the front downforce to the smallest possible value.
8. Increase the rear downforce to the largest possible value.
9. Set ASM to level 0.
10. Set TCS to level 0.

After you have set your selected car up like this take it to the MAX SPEED test track. Instead of going around counter-clockwise; go clockwise instead because you can go around as many times as you want without having to finish. Once you reach speeds of 230+mph the front end of the car should lift up, and you should start to accelerate insanely fast. You won't have very much steering control since your front wheels are off of the ground. Speeds of up to 1200mph, and over are possible with this setup.

Give it a go and tell me what happens!

Yes it really does work. My highest top speed so far is 1151.5mph. My brother was able to get 1203.4mph. I had some pics of MY top speed a while back, but something happened to them on the site they were being hosted on... :frown:

I gurantee you that it works, you might have to practice a lot once you set the car up, but it works..., if it didn't..., I wouldn't have wrote what what you saw on that site. Yes, I was the one who wrote it.[/] :D

well thanx for the info on gt3, Has anyone done an endurance race and actually nearly one but then crashed right at the end and lost? I Have a dodge viper with 1110 bhp and the acceleration is so cool I love sprinting past them :)

I tried your setup.  I only got mine to go like 737 mph.  By the time I reach that mark I hit the wall and slow down to normal speed...anyone know whats wrong?

I've got the European version and is in Kph not in Mph. The top speed that I've done is 1394 Kph (871 Mph). I think that is not possible to run faster in the EU version. Please somebody let me know if i'm wrong.

baffo- I'm sure that it's possible to reach higher speeds in the EU version. Maybe not though...

I've only been able to get the Escudo to go over 800mph on 2 occasions. One time I reached 1041.00mph and the other time I reached 1151.5mph. I haven't even been able to get back up to 900mph after that.

My brother got 1203mph, but just like me, he can't do it anymore.

I'm sure eventually you'll be able to go faster, but it's going to take a lot of time and patience.

Good Luck-

Bored and just tried again. Got up to 1797.9kph. Something like 1123.7mph. I think the trick is to exit the corner at take off speed without hitting the wall.

do you hav to have the escudo because i tried it with my skyline it has 1074hp and my max speed was only 233mph  am i doing anything wrong

yep, i tried other cars too but none of them willing to take off.

Those are the only cars that my brother has been ablt to do it with.

I've only tried it with the Escudo, but those other 2 cars also work.

Ahh, a little info has appeared on this trick.
Like they say, it only works when on two wheels, The front wheels spin at extreme speed, hence 1000+mph, but the rear wheels on the track never go faster than around 300mph, yup the speedo is connected to the front wheels.  So infact these speeds are not really possible.

Ok ive done this and so far ive been able to make my 1881 hp Escudo, 981 Corvette, and my 781 Opel all able to go on there back tires and lift in the air, and all reach a minimum speed of 600 mp/h

to robisme: actually, you really can go over 1000 mph. if you ever go faster than 800 mph, you can tell the difference when you hit the wall. you are going much faster than 300 mph. also, if what you said is true, when you go in the air on rally races the speedometer would go way up, but it really goes down.

That is a very good point. I dont think they would program the speedometer to the front wheels of the car, it would be a lot harder to do. Instead I would think they would simplely have to calculating how fast the car as an entity was moving through the enviroment (track).

Try it in two player mode, with someone else following in a fast car, then see what speed they have to do, to keep up :)

umm gee, 1000mph sounds fun
im still hanging out 4 the game to b released!
U LUCKY BASTARDS
But 1 thing, it appears to me that it musnt look like ur doing 1000mph cause surely you would notice the difference in visual speed by a country mile

OR CAN U???

Barrow a Digital Camera and post a screen shot.

We would all love to see it.  Daykota will also post it on his web site.  Search the threads for his URL.
