Going for GOLD ???

I got my first ever wheel for Christmas a DFGT and someone told me to get use to it the best thing I can do is instead of starting a new game to try and get golds in all the licenses. Well have tried for 2 days and havent managed 1 gold ( in fact I struggle to get silver) Any advice greatly welcome, Should I turn off some assists ??? Getting tempted to go back to controller as on lvl 27 A spec and spending hours on trying to get a gold is very frustrating:crazy:
 
The licenses would be a good way to get used to the wheel (as good as anything else really) but if you are burnt out on them give them a rest for a while. Just race A spec or online or whatever and go back to the licenses in a week. You might see a difference.
 
My tip,if you didn't do it yet, is to set the dfgt resistance force in the setup menu to 1..
The default is at 5 if i'm not mistaking, and then it's just slapping you like *****..
I also changed from ds to dfgt. And i thought I'd never get the hang of it. I golded all licenses with the ds and was quite happy with it. But the wheel Is much better when you get it. I improved my licenses times very easily later on.
And it's much easier to do races with the wheel before you do licenses, to get the feel for it. Then go back to the licenses.
 
turn all assists off, except for ABS run that on 1..... then see how you go, also turn the feedback to between 1-3 and turn power assist (in the steering options menu) on........ I find it quite enjoyable and fast set up like this
 
I'm in the original poster's boat......I just got a DFGT wheel as well. Here's what I did that know one mentioned yet. Along with setting the feedback back to "1" (and gradually raised it back to "5" with practice), I started off by practicing in ARCADE mode. I picks a real slow car and did time trials and single player races on Superspeedway until I was used to it. Then, gradually I started picking faster cars on trickier courses......and within a few days, I was used to it enough that I could compete in GT Mode. Now, I love it!
