I see, it came out basically the same price with it. Im going to wait on the SSD because i still have to get a monitor lol

Thank you again for being so helpful.

The 7950 is awesome value but the Nvidia 670 is supposed to be coming out next week so if I were you I'd hold out to that point and see what happens. The first benchmarks are coming out now and they apparently beat the 7950 and are close to the 7970. So if that's true you could go with that or the 7950 should see another price drop.

Bechmarks are already out for the 670. It seems like it's worth it. The 670 is getting 9-10fps over the 7950 in 1080p in most of the gaming benchmarks. Plus it uses 50 watts less according to the Preview. As the article says they will be releasing a review on a release model on the 10th(that's when it's released).

I looked it up, and some say it "might" be released at 399.99 which is even cheaper than the what im paying for the 7950 ($430). If they drop the 7950 in price substantially, then i will probably stick with it. lol

No there is a 7950 that sells for $380, I just thought I'd mention the better card before but the stock cooling design will work just fine. If you rather not wait then get the stock 7950.

One thing to keep in mind is that the 7950 Nick first chose is a non reference design. Better cooling and is that overclocked? Anyway its better than the standard one.

If you buy a 670 on or near release date it will be a reference (stock) card. No special cooling or factory overclock on it. Those are a month or two down the road yet. Also if the 680 release is anything to go by the 670 will be nearly impossible to find anytime soon.

The 670 stock card is actually (if it sells at $400) $20 more expensive than the stock 7950. Now if I were you I'd still buy the 670 but that's some stuff to keep in mind.

Yea it's been overclocked and has the special cooling. I'll wait none the less though just like you said, to see how it effects the 7950 price wise.

I didn't notice the stock one, I was in a trance while looking at the Hugeness of the suped up version. I can't honestly say I have seen a GPU like that irl... But hey, I've lived in the backwoods since forever, not many interested in tech like me.

I plan on having this setup in a couple weeks, I'll post pics when I get it together. :)

The 670's are out, well at least tigerdirect has one in stock, though a bit $50 more than a stock one and it's overclocked. Some stores like us.ncix.com has some overclocked models at the $400 price mark but they don't have those in stock. You can use this video as a reference for gaming with an overclocked 670.

670s have been getting impressive reviews. I've read many comparing it to a 7970 let alone the 7950. I foresee a massive shortage as seen with the 680. Why release a card when you literally don't have the stock to keep them in stock...

So then the 670 that nick posted, would be something i should buy as soon as i can then? Instead of going with the 7950.

^^ Well considering the 670 eats the 7950's arse, if you can afford it, defernatly go with it. Not so much a time constraint as both companies will probably not release a new card until late next year.

I would. Up here I've seen a couple superclocked 670s in stock for $420 which isn't a bad deal. All the reference design cards at $400 are sold out already in Canada but it seems like the best bang for the buck card out right now unless AMD severely cuts prices yet again.

Well i have waited, and newegg has recently received several models of the GTX 670. And after looking at benchmarks... with the money im spending already it would be dumb to not get the 670.

As soon as i move to my new house here is everything that i will be ordering.

Case: Rosewill Thor V2
Mobo: Asus Z77 Sabertooth
Galaxy GTX-670
PSU:Enermax Platimax
i5 3570 Ivy Bridge
Western Digital 1TB 6gb/s
Asus BD-ROM
CPU cooling
G.Skill 1866 Cas 8

Once i decide on a monitor, i will be around $1,750-ish/
