Hey guys!

I dabbled with some chart making in Prologue (raced all cars on Eiger in Time Trial mode on S2 tires), and I wanna make on in GT5 too.

I'm gonna race on Trial Mountain, basicly because it's my personal favorite since GT1. I thought I would race all cars on the set of tires that comes with them by default, seeing as that would be fair. Racing tires on a stock Swift or Fiat 500 just doesn't make sense to me.

I just wanted to ask for opinions, is default tires the most logical choice or am I missing something? I'd love to get your input :)

Wow, that is a massive collection of information . Will definitely check it out :)

The game isn't totally fair on default tires (91 NSX comes with Comfort Softs, which are okay for the period, but today it would be on better rubber). So I'd put all street cars on the same tires (probably Sport hard?) and race cars on race tires of your choice.

Better to have same tires on all vehicles. SM is my selection.

When you're after real life alike results go with default tyres.
And when you want to see how cars compare at more even field you use same tyre compound.
if it's S1s it means 1000 * 6,000 Cr = 6 million credits .

Remember that the cars have a break in period which makes the power go up.
And that UCD cars with over 5000km have no longer maximum power availeble.

1000 * break in the car's engine + change oil = 300000km and 250,000 Cr. :D
Not to mention the time you can spend searching for those low mileage cars at UCD .

Goodspeed with the massive quest you have set upon.

I voted for "Secret Option Number 3", which will be a secret no longer as I shall reveal all, MWUHAHAHAHAAA!

The tyres that come with cars aren't always the same as thier real life counter parts as regards the amount of grip you have, if you want to get as close as possible to the feel of driving them stock in real life, follow the links below & all will be revealed!

I actually like this, Racing Hard on Race/Rally cars, and Sports Hard for Street/Production cars. I think I'll go with that, sounds fair :)

Thanks for this, I might check this out too :)

Even on Group C cars and alike?

Haha, interesting figures :D. But my plan was a bit misleading, as I will probably never aquire all the cars, and I definitely won't be racing identical cars with different names (e.g. Renault / Lutecia .. ). I'll basicly be racing the ones I have :P. But all cars will have a rebuilt engine, a fresh oil change and restored body rigidity (will cost alot for some of the cars :ouch:). But I guess it's still the neverending quest considering the horribe lack of time I have to play

Thanks guys for the input! :). I think I'll go with what Eric said, as I don't think it's such a good idea to race Sports tires on Group C cars and other hardcore racing vehicles ;)

You are right guys. Racing cars have to be driven on racing tires. I had only street cars in mind.

I voted the 2nd option, but did it wrong. I already have a chart with car performance, and use the same compound (comfort medium) for all cars. CM represents typical OEM tires that many manifacturers install on their babies; sure there are some sporty cars (even Civic R) and supercars that are on a gripper compound (comfort soft), but are a little percentage and if I want to compare car performance I've to choose a single tire.

I hotlap racing cars with proper racing tires (hard for endurance, medium for sprints, soft as qualifying tires).

Tuner cars, and some concepts are built on sport tires. I still have to decide how to do with these.

On your own, you would mount comfort soft (like Pirelli P Zero or Bridgestone Re-11) on all street cars.

You should avoid trying racing or sport tires on street cars, for the chart. These tires erase car flaws and I'm sure that you want compare car performance, not how the car adapts to the use of sport/race tires.

My laptimes are in signature, but I read you posted the link some posts above.
