Ok, this is my first ever post to GT. And I'm glad I waited until I played the game. I'm through all up to Expert, most in Extreme; Golds in everything. Just letting you know I've played quite a bit. So here goes.

Complainers: You really need to go back and replay GT Prologue. GT5 really is a major quality above; for that we all owe GT many congrates.

But here are my complaints; however not important ones.

1: Why when you hit a wall at ANY angle, it stops you. It really doesn't conform to real life driving accident physics. Would love GT to answer why the programmers did that.

2: When your AI spins out ahead of you they fix themselves and continue to be ahead of you? What's Up With That???? I'd say simply not fair. But GT never promised fair.

Last, I'll add my grinding tip
Once you've reached "Extreme Series" and have acquired the Formula One,
Stay in B-Spec / Extreme Series / Dream Car Championship
Let em ride, they'll win you a poop full of money, 540k + 540k for champ.

I've gone through 20 mil over the past few days.

THANKS GT for a great, fun, best way to kill time program I've ever played.

I agree with what you are saying. However, I must add 2 issues that continue to both baffle and endlessly irritate me:

1. Above all is the horrific engine sounds. Just pathetic to the point I can't make myself drive certain cars, that's how fake they sound...wiii....weee...wooo...waaa...so obviously midi generated, they sound like an out of tune electronic organ.

2. The unbelievably stupid A.I., or lack there of. This make, for me at least, for an inexistent offline fun.

I play it, but after 6 years you would expect a "minimum" quality level in what are very basic areas for a "simulator".

This drives me nuts. Nothing worse than bumping a wall at a 20 degree angle and coming to a dead stop.

I've gone from Love to Hate. Well, almost hate.
Loved the game at first, looked interesting, many new events etc.
Now I'm level 25 and to progress, I have to re-do old events, which makes the game boring. That's my main complaint about the game.
But yeah, I agree, when you hit the wall, it is really annoying because it either almost stops you or spins you out...

Wow dude the engine sounds are mostly great, are you sure it isnt just your sound system?

@ neilchapman

Some 'oldies' at this side. Married couple ( male 62 and female 59 ). Been GT fans from day one and burning rubber ;)

The thing we hate the most are the spectators in this game :yuck:

By the way, this is a great site and a wonderful forum 👍

I am loving the game, few little issues like the shadows, but I can look past that.

Long may I continue playing it.

My biggest complaint with the bumps is the terrible generic sound you get. It's the same for all cars whatever they hit. The side wall of Indianapolis shouldn't sound like rear-ending an opponents plastic bumper, it should be a paint-destroying scrape.

How nice would it be if they got all those details done right?

my only complain is that you have to go through ALL those 40 levels to GET all GT5 content.

at lvl 1 you can't acess almost 80% of the game because THE GAME wont let you!

that makes no sense at all... why cant I have a ferrari at lvl 5 if I have the money?

I kinda like the sounds , when I'm on 3rd person view camera.

My excuse is it helps my 60 year old brain think and react faster. I tell my students that and they just laugh.

There's some recent studies to back that up. :) Seems video games HELP kids develop better hand/eye coordination, help with multitasking, help with dexterity, etc.

I'm 48 - glad to know I'm not the only oldster who still loved this game. Been playing since the original GT came out, and waited patiently (okay, not THAT patiently) for every version since! GT5:P was the entire reason I bought a PS3. Well, that and the Blu-Ray player, which is pretty nifty, too. :)

Hmm... I have no idea why you say that when you hit a wall at any angle it stops you. This is clearly not the case at all. I have hit walls in many ways. I have stopped. I have spun I have bounced. I have glanced, brushed, scrapped and about anything else you can think of an the only times I have stopped was due to severe head on contact. I could not tell you how many times I have hit wall on Indy tuning cars to run flat out. most often the result is I drop 10-20 mph and keep right on trucking.

Oh and when the AI spins out in front of me the only way they stay in front is either they are way ahead [I don't think that has ever happened] or I hit them trying to get past.

That's a ****** grindind tip, unless by grinding you meant getting credit.

The whole Dream Car championship get you like 85.000exp, take about 1h using a X1 in Aspec, 1h20min in Bspec using the X1 aswell.
You need 2.2M exp to go from 34 to 35, then you need another 2.8M exp to go to 36, And if I remember well, you need a little bit over 7M ex to go from 39 to 40.

Using your "grinding tip" :
1/ Forces you to stay near the PS3 to change races.
2/ Will get you 40 in both A and B spec by year 2015

Real grinding tip :
FGT or X1, endurance on Indy 500.
1000km of Suzuka with a FGT or a X1, as it gives more exp than the 4hours of the Nurburgring.
At 33, 9h of Tsukuba with a FGT or a X1. By 6h of racing, you should have a lap buffer big enough to pull over and wait for the last 3 hours.
At 35, 24h of le Mans, for 2.2M exp each race. Same trick as above.

I was mediocre when the game first came out, the game was missing some key things too me anyway, it's pure love now even with its flaws,
Which to me are
1. No odo in standard cars, and most Premium cars the odo missing or incorrect or plain not working, to some people it's nothing but to someone who doesn't drive in real life it was what i loved in gran turismo 4 and one of the main reasons i brought the game.
2. The inconsesity of the A.I, very hard to beat in some races and too easy in others the historic car cup in expert is common case of this first race really easy win in the toyota 7 same car next race tried 50 times and can't win.

I will play this game for ages, but i would like PD to look at fixing these issues as gt5 can be better than it is.

But on a side note 1.05 was what made me find gt5 better than what it was in the beginning.
Im on level 31 bspec and 28 Aspec and doing suzuka 1000km twice a day in b-spec trying to get to level 35 to get the best car in the game apparently
