good allround settings for drifting

I am glad to have the honor of telling you to SEARCH...There are SO many drifting threads it'll make your head spin...And there is no generic setting for drift because everyone drifts differently and with that have differences in how they set their cars.

Well, the thing is...There really isn't a gray area when it comes to racing and drifting...See, with racing...you get around a track as fast as possible, with drifting, you go for style, not speed. you don't drift around a corner as fast as possible, you make it LOOK as good a possible regardless of speed.

drifting during a road race can sometimes make your times faster. i can lower my overall time by probably 1.5-2 seconds solely by drifting on the last 2 turns on Rome, for example.

With lower HP cars it's even easier because you don't have to brake as much...No matter the angle of the turn there's always a point at which you can turn, apex, and clear the otherside...Drifting sacrifices speed at a constant rate...Grip is the only way to get it back. Thus, the fastest way to take a turn is to keep as much grip as possible.

actually Midus,I don't know..it all really depends on your style of driving.cause like I expressed in another forum about my 787B..I can't race, nor can I drive it good at all until my tyres get really worn out, thus losing traction enough for me to initiate drifts.so I can't really get better times by grip racing,I have to drift to get faster times.sorry dude,it's just the way some people drive..some people grip and get better times and some people don't grip, and drift instead to get better times =D

I won't contest that everyone has their own style...But realistically, to get the best possible time, you must retain grip. Granted, the style of turn taking differs from person to person and grippy isn't better for a particular personality, grip still will yield the over all best time.

oh really?if that's true, then tell it to Keiichi Tsuchiya

P.S. by the way..I was only joking about telling him what you told me,cause after the conversation, you'd probably come back missing a few teeth :D. (for all of you that know who I'm talkin' about,I know he's kinda old,but he's not THAT old :p.I bet he could pack a punch, hehe)
