And there's about $2400 USD on dealer incentives for 325s this month. Anyone wanting to pick up a 3 Series can do so for 500-1000 less than invoice in May.

Purchase as far as I know. They're about done with their spring lease drive. The residuals are down and money factors are up. They want BUYERS now.

Though I read they're giving good rates on X3s and X5s.

There's no such vehicle. And there's no 170hp 1.8L - Toyota's 1.8L engine sees four applications: Toyota Corolla (130hp), Pontiac Vibe (130hp and 180hp), Toyota Celica (140hp and 180hp), and Toyota Matrix (130hp and 180hp). Are you referring to the Matrix?

Incidentally, the only 1.8L engines with 170-horsepower on the market are the most brilliant engines of all-time, the 1.8L turbocharged four from Volkswagen/Audi.

I'd love to see a sticker price with a 325i under invoice. A friend of mine just bought a 2-year-old sedan with 15,000 miles for $25000.

Huh? A sticker price is what the dealer wants you to pay. Invoice is what the dealer normaly pays. The dealer incentives means that a dealer can sell a car for below normal invoice and still make money. What do you want to see?

Okay. So the sticker still has the jacked-up dealer price that we all know you're paying on a BMW. Only after the incentives, which are added at some point during the buying process - maybe - does the car come "below invoice," which I still don't believe.

Here are the dealer incentives for May

Incentives in May
--------------------
2004 325i/xi $1,250
2004 330i/xi $2,400
2004 X3 3.0 $1,210
2004 530i $1,000
2004 545i $1,500
2004 7 Series $3,000
2004 Z4 3.0 $4,500

So it is quite possible to get a 325i near or at dealer invoice, and shouldn't be a problem to get a 330i at or below invoice, unless you're a fool with more money than sense.

But hey, you don't have to believe it. Just keep paying sticker and believe the salesman when he tells you that he's not aware of any factory incentives.

Why are they giving incentives on in-demand cars?! This is stupid from BMW! Incentives on the X3? Are they mad? Do they want to kill resale from the beginning?!

They probably know something you don't, Doug.

-The E46 is 12-16 months from replacement. Need to move units before the factories shut down to re-tool for E90/E91.
-Demand for the X3 is probably softer than they expected.
-The E60 is overpriced to begin with (see, we agree on something)
-Z4s are rotting on the lots from what I can see.
-E65 is ugly and they know it.

I'm not arguing any of them but the X3. I know the 3-series is about to get replaced (but buyers still don't seem to see that the A4 is better), I know the 5-series is the most overpriced trash ever, I know they can't move Z4s. Though you wouldn't think a $3000 incentive would really drive someone to get a 7-series.

X3 demand is high, we all know it's high. Premium small, it's brilliant.

Oh, and i don't believe Toyota gave the NA 180hp 1.8 to Pontiac, because the Performance version Vibes have supercharger and that still only pushes about 165hp.

You're wrong there - the Vibe doesn't have a supercharger, and it's had the same engine line-up as the Toyota Matrix since day one at the factory (130bhp standard, 123bhp with AWD, 180bhp in the Vibe GT/Matrix XRS).

I'm a bit afraid of this engine, though - I recommended the cars for the 2004 model year and even convinced someone to buy a Matrix based on the old 180-horsepower rating - why has the rating just now changed to 170? I'm always weary of re-rated engines.

okay.... I'm just telling you what i say with my own two eyes:eek: at the Gator Nationals back in March. it was a Pontiac vibe with a supercharger. Maybe it was a certain package. I'm just telling you what i saw.

And as far as the engine being re-rated, I've only seen it listed at 170hp in the Carolla XRS, in the US version Lotus Elise's it's listed at 190hp. So most likely it has to do with exhuast variances and intake variances. That's what I'm thinking.

Nah - until the 2005 model year, it was rated at 180bhp for the Toyota Celica GT-S, Toyota Matrix XRS, and Pontiac Vibe GT. The 2005 Matrix XRS and Vibe GT, however, use the same engine and just get 170bhp, along with the new 2005 Toyota Corolla XRS. I wonder what's up. Also - there has never been a stock Pontiac Vibe with a supercharger, as an option, or standard.

must have been a concept then. It was the Gator Nationals, Pontiac was probably just showing off some stuff. A GTO was there too. So maybe they don't sell them that way, but this was clearly a factory job.

trd and gm performance parts release a supercharger kit for the 130 hp engine in the vibe and toyota vehicles it makes 165hp. for the 190hp elise it has new ecu, custom intake and exhaust made all by lotus
