Well as for games that are out now, I sudgest the classic
BattleField 1942 for your shooting needs,
for your real time strategy needs
Command & Conquer Generals / Warcraft3 Frozen throne
For your Driving needs, I don't know because I don't like PC Sims
For your RPG needs, i'd sudgest just downloading SNES roms, all the best RPG's ever made for less space than a term paper.
Rice of Nations is a good game too, kinda difficult for the novice, seeing as how it deals with inflation among other things.
As for games that are set to debut this "season"
The following
Half Life 2 (given)
Call Of Duty (Uses the same engine and AI Quality as Half life, but is WWII based. I've played the demo, it's amazing...AMAZING)
Breed, The so called "Halo - killer" It's a fun game, single player seems kinda weird though.
Doom 3 ( ultimate in scary)
XIII (Fun game to play
Chrome (alright if you have the $ to spend)
Chaser Awesome multiplayer game that takes it's ques from both Counter strike(which is a bad game despite all the rave) and red faction, The CS aspect is that you're a team of govt people or other people and you buy weapons that you earned the $ for in the starting area, the Red faction aspect is the detail is amazing, and the environment is almost infinatly interactive, I played the Multiplayer Chaser Demo over LAN with my roomie's and the best part was you could listen in and find your opponents just from the sounds their character was making or their environment. You could hear Birds in the background or distant helicopters, or grass rustling, very cool.
