Good tracks for testing car ??

Above all other factors, the best tracks to use are ones that you are familiar with enough that you can be consistent lap after lap after lap without much effort. It is true that a car that is fast on the full Nurburgring can probably be made to run fast everywhere else easily, but the full course is still an exceedingly poor testing circuit for setting up a race car.
 
I always test at Eiger Short. Good little track which I've become quite consistent at. As long as you're consistent at a track then you can test and compare there but if you're just going randomly then you won't get any real good data.
 
I like Nurburgring GP/F. Has chicanes, hairpins, sweepers, hard braking zones, and using the rumble strips can get time shaved off so you can feel how the car reacts over the curbs. Really and all 'round track IMO. Usually where I go to shake down a car. 👍
 
Monaco (Côte d'Azur) for the tight bends, and the Nordschleife for the high speed ones and suspension height.
As for the gearbox, I adjust it differently for each track.

Not to go to far off topic. The track is not bankrupt. It's the dumb amusement park they thought would be a fantastic idea. That is out of money.

And, tracks to tune on. Laguna Seca and Suzuka. Both are great for Tuning. Laguna has a little bit of everything and is a hard track to get right, while Suzuka is much smoother and is more high speed. Get a tune for both and you'll be golden. I also will take some cars that I really like on Fugi and make a third tune. You can get high speed cornering down with this track along with getting your car to do the same.

This is the track I use to balance the car. Ten seconds out of the pits, in turn one, you know if your car understeers or oversteers.
 
I use Spa for my testing and tuning, It's a complete track that allows me to find out immediately all pros and cons of my cars.

Road course Daytona is a great course for car control now that you mention it. I especially like the first turn that if you brake too much you'll not go far enough, if you brake too late you'll crash, and the wrong line will cause a spin-out.
 
I generally prefer to test my cars on the tracks that have been in the game since the original - Trial Mountain, Special Stage Route 5 (and variations thereof in past games) and Grand Valley Speedway are my favorites - because I've gotten used to them so much.

I don't enjoy Deep Forest as much as I used to - far too many cars will catch air at the end of the straight, and on the reverse layout, the downhill right before the turn leading to the straight.
 
Toscana Tarmac (course maker). You can create some long, narrow tracks (roads) with many various turns, elevation changes and etc. Totally awesome if you are bored with Nordschleife or just want to test road cars.
 
Laguna Seca and the Daytona Road Course. They are both short enough where i can see lap time improvements fairly quick. The ring is to large, i doesn't take me how ever many miles and 7 mins to see i need to make a change.
 
Cote D' Azur cause I like it tight and twisty. If you can make a car drive like butter there, it will drive anywhere.
 
I like Nurburgring, but I have created my own test track on the Eifel stage which has a good straight, banked turns, tight hairpins, some bumps here and there, elevation changes, etc.
I've probably tested atleast 100 cars on this track which I've been using for a while now 👍


Edit- I, with few others, also use Autumn Ring for low PP (Usually less than 350pp) cars.

My favourites are by far Trial mountain and deep forest.
I like the odd jump that you have to beware of and they are flowing tracks so once youre in a rhythm the laptimes tend to fall quickly and also if you mess up its not another 6min before the next lap starts like on the 'ring.
 
Been really enjoying High Speed Ring and Tsukuba lately - long sweeping curves vs tight twisty corners. These were my least 2 favourite tracks for most of my GT life:nervous:
