Okay Gtplanet, I need a wheel stand for my g27. I simply do not have the space for a full cockpit but need something nice, with a shifter mount in the "natural" place. I know there's tons of options, but here's the catch, I'm 6' 3" about 285 pounds, and really dislike the wheel stand pro style stands... I'm not opposed to building one if anyone has/knows where to get plans for one that would fit me. I would greatly appreciate any assistance in my search.

Go google the Apiga AP2. It might be something for you. Mail them for the measurements. If you you also want to attach a seat to it, get the AP2+ which will provide you a "bracket" on which you can attach any car chair to your liking which you can get from a local shop and try out yourself.

I definitely agree that the Apiga AP2 has everything I am looking for, but it would cost well over three hundred dollars shipped. The asking price isn't bad, but that shipping cost is kinda hard to stomach.

Simply browse the many threads here or go to thewayiplay.com

Going through a hundred page thread is ot fun, but well worth it. You can also just get a pad and pencil and design one for the most comfortable rig for your size.

I'm roughly the same height as you, and I've found the Fanatec rennsport wheelstand to be able to go high enough: Whether sitting on a dining table chair or the sofa, it fits. I've tried it with Logitech DFGT, Logitech G25 and Fanatec GT2 wheels, all work fine for me.

The Wheelstand Pro is definitely not high enough, but if you compare specs between the WSP and the Fanatec Rennsport you'll see that the Fanatec goes a number of centimeters higher.

Agree. I'm 6'6" and the Fanatec wheelstand works perfect for me and my G27. I think both the wheelstand pro and the fanatec are good products, but the fanatec can go about 4" higher if remember right and the reason I picked it.

@ mikekhel30,
That is a sweet site, I've never seen it before and it has write a ton of resources. Thank you for sharing it.

@ Energizerrr
Thanks. I'm thinking that a custom build may be in order, I've decided to move within the next few weeks and since space will no longer really be an issue that limits my choices. In that regard, I'm no welder, and not terribly talented with wood. I've seen several rigs inspired by Simul8r and really like them for their esthetics, adjustability, and fairly low cost. I'm just not if the heavy duty pvc can support me anyone have experience with one?

I am exactly the same size as you. 6"3 and 130kg, I have built my own cockpit. You can have a look at it in my sig :D

Awesome rig, simple yet effective. I'm still considering a pvc cockpit given my complete lack of woodworking tools haha.

Hmmm that is really awesome, and they are in the states! Thanks for the link S7 you've seen it in action right, it is pretty solid?

That stand does look nice, although i would mount that wheel plate upside down. Seems like you can very easily smash up your hands on the top.

Yes, great sig Azwolf1!

I'm 6'4" and about 170lbs. dripping wet after a shower and my Playseat Evo fits me fine with plenty of extra room 👍 I don't know if its out of your price range, just an fyi.

Well Jump_Ace, I'm damn near 300 pounds and as far as I know the playseat it's rated at 250 pounds. They are very clean looking tho, but just not sure it would support me you know?
