The new model will be a 2+2 hardtop with a 3 litre V-tec 6 cylinder powerplant developing 320 HP at 7500RPMs. (again, not the V8 or V-10 reported in Road and Track) It will feature the Honda SH-AWD system, GPS navigation, an eight speaker stereo system with an in-dash CD changer and XM satellite radio, and an information system that displays trip, gas mileage, service intervals, and other pertinent data. The sport tuned suspension will have five settings to adjust between comfort and all-out performance. The 18” forged alloy wheels will come equipped with Bridgestone’s newest Potenza sport tire with 255/35 series in the front and 285/30s in the rear. The new interior will be much plusher than the S2000, and offer many additional options to the buyer than the one-flavor fits all approach of the S2000. Power will be delivered to the wheels through either a six speed manual transmission or a five speed automatic with a clutchless shift option. The base model is expected to retail in the $43k range, but options can push that figure to more than $50k. The new models should start appearing in Tokyo showrooms sometime in the spring of 2007 with a US appearance a short time after. As soon as more photos/info is available, we’ll be sure to post it right away. The S2000 is very near and dear to all of us here at S2ki, and while the news is quite disturbing on one hand, we’re excited to see what Honda has in store for us next.

i like it, but am disappointed to see the S2000 go. its such a gorgeous car and has been such a sucess. but we all see an end to most of our fav cars.

Looks to me like a photoshop of an S2000 with a mid 90's Celica roofline grafted on. The side window reflections don't even match up and the interior looks pasted in. Not to mention Honda would never ever market a sports car like that. (4WD, 2+2, Round roofline with squared off body panels??) Totally fake IMO. Looks like a bad April fools joke as the article was released on Mar 31...

Eww I dont like that photochop at all, If Honda were to make a hardtop they would make it much nicer than that.

April fools. Honda wouldnt make a AWD car roadster thingy. Especially not when its V-Tec. AWD would sap most of the toque out of it.

Definately an April Fool's joke. A hardtop S2k would be cool but Honda wouldn't go away from it's high revving 4cyl or RWD.

*edit*
Oh and the rear window wiper is IN the glass? 👎

I'm not buying this, it is very unhonda like. It's a lot of ponies, awd, and a 2+2. Plus the supposed price of 43k+ puts it in the company of the Porsche Boxster, BMW 330cic, and if you start adding options the z4. Also the base corvette is in this range. All that brings me to my point of why make it AWD? It would seem to me that they would make this a RWD 2 seater to be in the same class as the other cars I mentioned.

All that plus the fact that Honda is a fairly practical company makes me question the validity of this car. Why would the replacement for one of their legendary cars go so far from the car it replaces?

I doubt that it is in any bit true, as they would baisicly be turning the S2000 into a direct compeditor to the R35 GTR... A big mistake. Going with V6 power, all-wheel-drive, and a hard top is going to kill what made the S2K special, and kept it one of the ONLY Hondas I would EVER buy, EVER!

The article was written Mar 31 2006 :odd:

Honda would never throw so little development money into an automobile. It's a hoax, and not really that good of a photoedit.

April Fool's or not, this isn't a very good idea, so far. :odd:

Everything about it made sense until the price, and the AWD.

Also, coming from Honda, the 6-cylinder would most certainly be a V6, and not a straight-6. V6 = *yawn*, IMO. :indiff:

+1 To me the only 6 cylinder engines that I'd want are either the BMW I6 (any generation), the new Audi FSI 3.2l V6, the Nissan RB25/RB26 straight 6, or either of these Nissan V6's VQ30/VQ35 or VG30. :sly:

Isn't the Audi 3.2L V6 just the VW 3.2L VR6?

VR6's are cool because they're just crooked straight-6's... :sly:

why not just call it the s3000? It look kind of looks like a s2000. honda should have done like mazda with the rx line, just go up in numbers.

LONG time no see, CobraGT! Welcome back!

And oh yeah, did I mention that I hate April Fool's Day? I thought no one was pulling punches until I read this. Last time I got fooled, it was when Ferrari had some bogus deal about a Ferrari hatchback or some sort of affordable 5-figure automobile. Honestly, April Fool's Day needs to be shot down and sleeping with the fishes. Oh yeah, dead with that "Aquaman" game for the XBOX. ^_^ Anyhow, thanks for getting my hopes up and playing games on me.

Since we have a "FoolKiller" on GTPlanet, maybe we can use his services to exterminate any other April Fool pranks. All we need to do is hire his services for any other too-good-to-be-true deals. Only question is, how much does he charge for the service?
