Google Wildcard Character?

Really? (goes off and tries it...) Weird. The wildcard doesn't register anymore. According to the Google-guide, it's now used as a multiplier symbol in their calculator. There's no mention of any other code to use as a wildcard character anymore. I suppose they changed "*'s" functionality just to include the search-box calculator, and they forgot to add a new wildcard symbol to replace it.
Maybe somebody should write to Google about that oversight...

the first site when i type in *'s is Jane's Information Group
5 * 4 * doesn't give the calculator, but 5 * 4 does.
edit: i know now what you're pointing at. You mean d**r that google gives you sites with door or dear.
And no, google doesn't have a symbol for that.
altavista.com uses * for multiple symbols. So when you type in GT*, you could get sites with GTA, GT4, but also GTPlanet
Or when you search for colo*r, it will give you sites with the word color or colour.
