So has anyone received an invite or has an account on the new Google+ social service?

If so, would you mind sending me an invite to Google Plus? (PM me for GMail)

Otherwise, how are you liking it over FB?

Anything notable over Facebook?

I've been fiddling with it a bit. It is all right, there are some quirks with how the menus are layered I feel, and their Terms of Service aren't any more friendly to those uploading media than Facebook. In fact, they are less friendly, which is kind of discouraging for artists and such to use the service to promote their work at all.

I haven't got an invite yet but have signed up, apparently it was so popular they had to stop accepting people within a few days of it launching. Looks nice and clean.

Isn't this just like Buzz though? I've had a look at it, just haven't used it a lot (cba switching to a Gmail, too much hassle). And it seems like a social networking site (Sharing, Posts, Photos etc.)

Way better features in it, eager to try it out, but Google couldn't handle so many requests unfortunately...

Fixed that for you ;)

I could see it easily being better than Facebook with some of the stuff they are looking to implement.

Invites are closed, and please don't ask me for them - I don't plan invite people I don't know.

G.T
No one happens to have an invite spare, do they?

Apparently not, I've been over the Internet for hours now, and no one seems to be inviting for free, all greedy, they want money, easiest way is to buy off of eBay, no way I'm letting my credit card information online.

If only people were kind enough.

Money is evil simple put.

Somehow, my friend in I.T. has a Google Dev accound (he "knows" people ) and managed to give me one.

I know someone with a dev account and he can't send out personal invites. He told me he'd get me one sometime though. :indiff:

He made a status update and 'shared' it to my gmail account, so it's not official :trouble:

Ah, you got lucky there was space left. My friend has done that to me, and I get a big 'ol "JOIN" button, but then it says "sorry lol no room for you, sucker".

Anyone with a gmail account can sign up now. If teh Google+ page wont work for you than email them.

Their email is on twitter here They even said it is open to anyone with a gmail account.

It's fairly annoying that the only India and the US have SMS functionality :grumpy:

You can also share youtube videos within the chats or "hangouts", so you and your friends can watch MLP or whatever together!

I tried to sign up and it says that all the preview spots are taken. So I just put my email address in for updates.

hmmmm i saw this in the new thingy on my phone...looks interesting might sign up...!

Invites are open again, and probably not for long.

Also last night I was at a friend's house and he was able to use my account on a separate computer. So we were both in a Hangout with other friends using my account. Pretty cool.

The big thing about google + over facebook that I can see is that they offer you the ability to share with with limited groups of people. You can have a "circle" with our grandmother in it, and a "circle" without your grandmother in it. So when you post that picture of your drunk face at a party, you can choose to share it with the right circle, and your grandmother is non-the-wiser.

Facebook needed this ages ago.

I want.

I wonder if you can use the camera on the iPad in 'hangouts'?

Just got mine up and running and I really do like it. It's like a less cluttered Facebook more or less with better sharing options for content. I also really like the Sparks, which is a kind of news feed more or less. I'm hoping it really takes off to be honest, I find myself using Facebook less and less because it's just so awful to use now.

And I'm not really handing out invites, although I might consider it for people that I feel like I know around GTP. Past that I don't want a bunch of random people connected to me.
