I am in google+ if anyone wants they can send me their email and I will invite you.

Remember it has to be a gmail. I am not a premium user so my inbox is 50 messages I will try to clear it out often.

If the AUP allows you to post emails here and you are comfortable doing it then go ahead.

Just got mine yesterday. Looks nice. But I will have to wait until my friends get it.

It doesn't matter, invites are very rarely "open." People will still have to wait to join off of it.

And nick09, there is a lot more to G+ than just networking with your friends. Think of it as twitter, a blog, and facebook combined, with very handy controls on whom you broadcast to.

Actually invites are open to anyone with a gmail address and I its unlimited invites as well.

I have already sent invites to a couple of friends and it worked.

The way you can organise contacts on G+ is so much better than Facebook.

Agreed. The only problem though is that if you invite someone, AFAIK any status updates you make after that get emailed to them if they’re not a member of Google+. So, to avoid spamming people, I have to first add people to a circle that I never post to, then once they join Google+ I have to move them over to my other circles. Or am I wrong in my assumptions?

I’m also hugely annoyed that I’ve lost my clean URL. My Google Profile used to be profiles.google.com/sageolson… now it’s plus.google.com/100467012970127081974/posts. WTF?

I know! With Facebook you have a bunch of friends, then you're able to make a few groups. With G+ (going with Danoff's example), you can post photos of you getting smashed at the bar without your Grandmother knowing. Plus also has some suggestions for some circles including 'Best Friends', 'Chums' and even In-Laws :P

The big thing about google + over facebook that I can see is that they offer you the ability to share with with limited groups of people. You can have a "circle" with our grandmother in it, and a "circle" without your grandmother in it. So when you post that picture of your drunk face at a party, you can choose to share it with the right circle, and your grandmother is non-the-wiser.

Facebook needed this ages ago.

It got this ages ago. I've got some my status updates and photos set so that my dads side of the family can't see them.

Yeah Facebook does have a filtering system, but G+ does it much more intuitively - you don't have 'send a friend request' which places them in a huge list for you to sort through afterwards, instead it allows you to add someone into a certain group from the get go. You don't accept any requests either - a person can add you and you're automatically placed into whatever circle they've put you in, however if you don't want that person to see your activity you can block them outright, or place them into a circle (which you can call 'Annoying Idiots' if you wish) and exclude that circle from your personal feed. However on their end it just looks like you've added them. :p On Facebook I remember that whenever someone adds you to a group or list, you get a notification of what you've been put into.

I got one last night, if anyone wants an invite pm me :)
Looks awesome but may take a while to get everyone over from facebook

Yeah but everything you post on someone else's wall is visible to everyone. For instance, I have a friend up-and-coming in the intelligence community as a foreign policy adviser. He posts some op-ed drivel by Max Boot, I tell him what an neo-con psychopath that guy is, and that I hope he's not turning into that. Now all of his buddies in DC are able to see that, so I don't know what the future holds for this little interaction.

If Google's circles can prevent eavesdropping by people not in the circle of the poster and/or addressee's choice, then that is potentially a huge upgrade.

So, this must be the real deal. After-all the introduction of Skype for Facebook seems to be a knee-jerk reaction because of competition from Google themselves. ;)

It's taking me a long time to get used to it. I'll stick it out, though.

I think sparks is like a sort of a list of things your into, click it and it searches the net for new articles n stuff on that

I get that but I can't make it fit into the rest of Google+. What you put in Sparks isn't visible to anyone else and there isn't any option to make it visible if you wish, it's like RSS yet contains stuff you don't really want to read about because it's too vague.

I am with Tom on Sparks. I've only looked at it once and it was content I honestly wasn't interested in, more so when compared to what I am getting on my stream after adding many photographers.

Yup, I tried a couple sparks, and didn't want them all over my stream so I took them off. It'll most likely stay that way.

Found another quirk: I don’t like that if you’re on someone’s profile, you can’t just send them a message from there (similar to posting on someone’s wall in FB). Instead you have to click back to your stream and then share and then restrict to that person.

I've noticed this as well. Have you left feedback about it?

G+ borked for me. Is it down for any of you as well?

I hope they listen to my feedback about multiple link previews in a single post. I hate having to make a new post for every picture I wish to share, it's discouraging as I don't want to spam streams with a large number of posts just so people get a preview of each individual photo. Facebook is the same and it's bugged me for ages.

Has anyone noticed how much Facebook has slowed since this whole G+ bidness?

The only people I really still see posting on Facebook are those pushing games like Mafia Farms or whatever it is and chicks. I did get Kari signed up on Google+ though, trying to limit the sausage fest .

Mafia farms lmao. "'Ey Dom, is it time to whack the cows yet?"
