Left-clicking opens a new tab already by default, no plug-ins required.

Edit: Tools > Options... > Tabs > Open new pages: [ ] In new window [X] In new tab.

^I already have that set... The plug-in I had made it so I could select when it would open a new tab. Say if I use the google search in the upper right corner, it would open a new tab. Now that I'm on FF3 it doesn't do that... If I click on any of my bookmarks it won't open a new tab it will open in the current tab...

@mouse. Oh that... well even if I liked that way, I can't now that I'm on Thinkpad keyboards. The middle click is the button that activates my scroll. Still, I like a plug-in better because it's automated. It's how and why I've liked FF all these years too.

When I left-click on the Forums button at the top, it doesn't open a new tab.

If I scroll-click it opens a new tab.

Left-click + right-click opens in a new tab as well.

Plus these browsers are free... so no ones making any profit anyway, its all just about market share...
Google traditionally has made money by having the most market share in whatever venture the are in.

-Also, saying profit-driven company is redundant. All companies are profit-driven.
Yes, but Google is somewhat different from The Linux Foundation. Perhaps I should have said profit for personal gain.

That is true when there is advertising involved, however Chrome has NO advertising so they are gaining no financial benefit, only market share and brand exposure (as if they needed any more of that!).

Now if someone uses Chrome likes it and then uses other Google services which do have advertising then that could be considered an indirect finical benefit.

Downloaded and tested it today. Boy oh boy, it's faster than anything I've tried before. However, it's missing some features that I can't give up that were mentioned earlier - the search-bar at the bottom, a mouse-scroller, and some little stuff that bugs me, like the I/B/U tags on GTP which won't work.

I'm sticking with Firefox for the time being - until extensions and the basics are added.

After reading the comic they released (which is a great idea, BTW) and getting some insight into the project, and the fact it's based of the already in-use webkit, I'm upgrading my "hate" to a "moderate dislike" of Google Chrome.

Well finally made the upgrade to Chrome, and I got to say I really like it. :D Not really getting used to it after using Firefox for so long, but boy oh boy how fast this browser is. 👍 If they can fixed a few bugs in the system, I'm so totally using this over Firefox any day......

After beginning to use it a bit more and enjoying that rendering-speed, I've found that yesterday's minor upgrade to Facebook made quite a few applications Chrome-incompatible.

Back to Firefox, then. :P

Well, it seems I was wrong. :guilty: After posting that reply, it started to feel like poo. The moust scrolling feels weird, highlighting words seems impossible and the firefox shortcuts were missing. The worse of all, it was really troublesome to get used with the tabs on top, and the tabs sometimes wouldn't open until i double click on it. :ouch: No that was not half as bad, after install firefox again (I uninstalled Firefox 3 and used back Firefox 2 👍) and notice my bookmarks was missing! After googling for answers, it seems that when you import your bookmarks from Firefox to Chrome, they will delete your old bookmarks on Firefox.

Anyways, yeah. A bad first experience using it, and to be honest, not even Firefox 3 feels as good as Firefox 2....... and IE is definitely out of the question!

You're a silly one, Muzza. Firefox 2 and Firefox 3 store their bookmarks differently... My Firefox (3) still has all the bookmarks Chrome has.

Eh........... yeah. :guilty: Well never mind, its just a small problem anyways.....

I did think Chrome was pretty spiffy when I first used it, but now it's a bit meh, and not that great. Like someone said, highlighting words is impossible, and it lost some of my bookmarks I imported. Not all of them, but a select few.

To be honest I think the IE8 Beta is much better than Chrome, at this stage.

I like it because it loads web pages pretty fast, simple interface, buttons don't clutter or take up half the screen.

I've been using it since launch, and I have to say that I am impressed. A couple of things are broke though.

For instance, copying and pasting, doesn't work like it instinctively should. The spell checker (whilst a great feature) is basically bare-bones, you can't drag tabs onto the bookmark bar (every time I try, I get a new window!) Last but not least, actually bookmarking any tab is nigh on impossible. I can't find any link to actually bookmark a page anywhere - not in the context menu, or the other two menus.

Edit: just figured it out - you have to right click the bookmark bar - hardly intuitive.

The big thing I like about Chrome is the fact that each tab is its own process. This feature alone is worth its weight in gold! With many tabs open and using Firefox, Facebook regularly crashes Firefox. I've neer had a single crash on Google Chrome! I have currently 17 tabs open, and I can see how much ram each tab uses (if I look at task manager). If only there was a way for me to know this within the browser....

Edit: found it! go to the document icon after the address bar. Drill down to developer, and select task manager! What a superb feature! Not only can I see how much resources each tab uses, I can also see how much resources the active plugins use too! 👍

chrome is a great browser, lean mean, and very fast! With some nifty updates/improvements, it could be a killer! I highly recommend using it! 👍

Just like firefox, there's a star next to the link in the address bar. Click that to bookmark - already bookmarked pages then show as a yellow filled star in future.

Got it thanks! :)

Is there a way to set the amount of time it keeps my cookies? It seems to wipe out everything once a week or so, forcing me to re-log on to everything I need a password for. It's frustrating (not so much anymore, now that I've remembered my individual passwords) having to type everything back in, especially when there are page-specific functions that are made to not have to go through this trouble. It wouldn't be as annoying if Chrome actually remembered the passwords I told it to either.

This also brings up the discussion of the presumption that I need protection from some harmful evil. Does flickr really think that I'll be safer logging back on every two weeks? Someone will steal my precious photographs? This computer came with all sorts of protection functions defaulted at maximum security. The fingerprint-reading hardware was annoying to get going, then matching it with a password etc. Do they think everyone is so vulnerable from another individual manually accessing their files that they need to employ a gimmicky biometrics device originally developed for the military or keeping substantial amounts of cash behind a safe wall? It's a frickin' notebook!

Mine doesn't delete any cookies.. Though some sites (ftlog forums) struggle to cope with the idea of multiple tabs, which they didn't on other browsers.

Now that you mention it, I switched to Chrome after Firefox started deleting cookies whenever I closed it.

I like Chrome too. One feature I would want is the ability to switch of the underlining of web links. So far I haven't been able to find that.

I use Explorer with a fixed set of tabs for iGoogle, general and car news, and Chrome for Turismo sites. My wife uses Safari for Hotmail, Gmail and banking stuff.

Still going strong from launch. Sometimes copying and pasting messes up but i can recitfy that in about 2 to 3 seconds anyway. Looking foward to the future chrome.
