Really? That must have been an old show...alltheweb searches 2.1 billion and Google about 2.4 billion (judging by their home pages).Originally posted by Zero
I heard on WTOP radio in Washington that alltheweb had something like 1.2 BILLION websites in its search engine and google had a few hundred or thousand less i dont really know but google does rule.

Oh, I love the cache! Many times, I'll just look at the cache first, because Google's cached pages often load faster and already have the search terms highlighted (great for picking out specific information in long articles).Originally posted by neon_duke
The nice thing about Google is that it caches a copy of everything, too. That means if the server is down at the site you're looking for, or if it doesn't exist anymore, you can at least get to some of the older information.

What is this "brose"?Is it a form of sexual harrassment, perhaps?
If Google's down? I don't think I have ever found Google to be down in the past 3 years I've used it (I don't see how it could be, either, with their insane number of servers.).Originally posted by Jpec07
why might astalavista.com be blocked by my ISP?
I always use Google (it's much larger than alltheweb). If it's down, I go to http://www.altavista.com. And if that's down, I'll go to alltheweb. And finally, if they're all down, I'll use the search Bar I got with My Comet Cursor program.
Google is definitely the best. AOL's search engine has gotten a lot better, but google still rules all.
