Well, they're not the first (a number of blogs have been doing this for several months now), but it'll be infinitely more useful with Google. :)

I saw this before. Completely worthless. Why would I care what other people search for, even if it begine with the same letter as what I am typing?

It should tailor the suggestions to the pages that I tend to click on in the Google results. Or, it should suggest better ways of phrasing the keywords I am typing in (such as a diferent phrasing that yeilds more results).

What you're asking for is already built into your browser. It's called "Type Ahead", and it keeps a list of everything you've typed into that text field for that webpage. This is different, and better.

I know about type ahead...but so far we are just talking about blind character matching with some database/archive. Any first year computer science student could code that.

I'm asking for some sort of intelligence...say for example before I had searchd for "linux sound card detection". If I start to type in "detect..." it should not prompt me with "detective" if I had typed that in previosly, or if it is in Google's databse. It should spit back the seach I had already done, "linux sound card detection."

The other thing I thought of was, if my search "linux sound card detection" yeilds fewer results than the seach "sound card linux detect", then Google should prompt me with this.

These ideas require some real innovation.

it doesnt work with explicit material. lol.

I know. I typed "Por", but to no avail. :indiff:

Eh, some list of options I don't even want popping up under the textbox would frustrate me. I'll just stick to regular Google.com :)

I saw this the other night, it's really pretty pointless, I mean you don't go to a search engine unless you have some idea what you want to type, you don't need something telling you what to search for.

I like it.

If you use it correctly, you don't have to type the whole word, which saves you time.

I would type "Gran" and it would bring up Gran Turismo. Hit the down key and then Enter and it will select Gran Turismo.

I don't like the type ahead feature in my browser. So why would I want Google to do it? Personally, I don't see any use for this.

I suppose it could be helpful, such as Viper Zero's example, but that would save me what, maybe a second of my time? Nah...

i typed in capital, and it suggested Captialization.

...i bet Alpha is rolling on the floor right about now. ;)

I think it's a total waste of time. My typing skills are good enough that searching through whatever words they give me - or even pressing the down arrow key to select one of their prompts - takes considerably longer than typing it out. I know I'd never use it.

It does give the number of results found for each search, which I suppose is at least interesting.
