Seems as though I'm in for a bumpy ride this year. I was injured at work last week--and I knew exactly what it was after it happend. I have been going to a local "doc in a box" Prima Care and he finally diagnosed my problem as a rotator cuff injury which is what I said from day one. He doesn't know if it is a sprain or a tear, so today after me calling and calling the people who're handing my worker's comp case I finally got them to ok an MRI.

I'll know in the next few days if it is indeed a tear or just a sprain. If it is a tear that means surgery and half of my year in phyiscal theropy. Which more importantly completely ruins any hope of me doing any restoration of any automobiles. I wish I could scan my MRI images for you all to see. :D Its really fascinating. :dopey:

I'd prefer not to see any MRI's, as I've had to do one about a year ago before my surgery and the results couldn't be any worse: total tear of the meniscus and complete annihilation of the anterior cruciate ligament...
Even now, almost a year after the surgery and many months of therapy, I'm not fully recovered, the entire knee area is still numb and sensitive, and I've already gotten used to the idea that I'll never be able to play football (soccer) again with my friends.

So, although it's not the same as I had, I hope turns out ok and it's nothing but a sprain. 👍

Sorry to hear about the injury, its never fun to be even minorly impaired. Even when I had my stint in at work, I couldn't move much, and that was just the "junk." I can't imagine with what would likely be the loss of a good amount of use with your arm...

I've never had an MRI done, but CT scans are cool. Just thought I'd throw that out there...

As a veteran of a torn rotator cuff, I can tell you it sucks, but not as bad as it used to.
Mine was repaired laproscopically and I have about 90-95% of my range of motion.
I don't bowl anymore, nor do I shovel snow, but I can pretty much handle everything else.
The Physical Therapy was hard work, but I worked with the Therapist in my job, and I wasn't about to let her see me be a big baby.

My 6000th post BTW.

Good news, I guess. My MRI came back negative for a tear. It is a severe sprain and there's a whole bunch of inflamation. I still may have the ortho surgeon inject me with some cortizone to let the swelling go down a bit. Otherwise it'll be a month's worth of recovery instead of 6-8 months if it was a tear.

Just out of curiosity, which shoulder was it?

My right shoulder.

What's a *cuff* in this context?

Sounds a bit like your lifestyle was effected. :(

Well, I actually only used to bowl about once every ten years.
And I have six sons, and hate to shovel snow.
It kinda works out for me.
