I'm curious to see how many of us in the UK are going to watch F1 this year on Sky.

Poll will be up shortly.

Can't afford it. I'll make use of the internet while I can. Come June, it's strictly BBC for me.

And I like neither James Allen nor Ben Edwards.

Exactly the same for me except I like James Allen (better than David Coulthard) and Ben Edwards.

I already had Sky HD and the sports channels, so I'm all good to go. I'm glad Martin Brundle went to Sky as that makes the experience even better.

Already had Sky Sports for years, recently upgraded to HD, watched a couple of the programmes on Sky Sports F1 HD and I'm majorly impressed.

I remember everyone claiming that the BBC's coverage will always be better than Sky's, how very wrong they are! Granted Sky do have a dedicated channel where as BBC do not. But still the money to get sky sports is worth it for the coverage, Brundles commentary, Kravitz's analysis and Damon Hill!

So I'll be watching it on Sky Sports F1 HD ;)

I simply cant afford to spend what equates to a mortgage payment on F1 and the building I live in due to its age and other factors has a status that doesnt allow any individual dishes etc, it has one shared antenna hidden on the roof.

So, I cant afford sky f1, couldn't receive it even if I wanted too and wouldn't give murdoch a penny of my money even if the first two factors didn't exist.

Screw you murdoch, and screw you BBC for signing up to such a stupid and insulting deal.

Daan, you missed out on the Virgin media package available here in the UK.

I must add i'm on Virgin and it stinks at £22 to be able to watch F1 per month, over twice what it would cost on sky. I wont be subscribing as I have other sports to do on sundays so when i get home I will watch the hightlights on BBC.

I picked the first option, because I will be buying the monthly ticket (I'm going to miss the first race anyway as i'm at my mam's for the weekend and the internet there is far too slow). If the coverage is pants I won't renew it though.

Since i already have Sky HD i automatically get it. If that wasn't going to be the case, i wouldn't have upgraded, i'd have just continued watching the BBC's coverage.

I can't afford it. I'm a student and I only get £50 a week. But (I'm 17) I have one driving lesson a week which cost £25. Then I have to pay for my phone contract, £10 a month. In total I only get £90 a month. But if I bought sky then id only get £60 a month. PLUS I have to buy fuel for the car (shared car with dad) so if I did buy sky I would have about £50 income per month

Yeah I can't afford it when I need to save for my future

I was actually lucky. Having just relocated to Japan, I found out that for 2012, F1 moves from Fuji TV's pay channel to the free channel. And that includes practice and quali.

If I was still in the UK, I would have subscribed to Sky, but that's another matter.

I wish I could subscribe to Sky. If they offered it here, I would get it just for the F1 channel. But at least SPEED shows all sessions live (Practice 1 and 3 streamed on their site, rest on TV), so I'll still see the race live. Though when summer rolls around, not sure what I'll do for the FOX scheduled races.

We upgraded our Virgin Package to watch sports and films over Christmas and thought we might as well keep it on to watch F1.

BBC only. I'd like to get Sky to watch it but it would literally be for F1 only and I can't justify how much it costs just for that.

I like my F1 so I've spent the 10 pound extra to get the HD package which includes the F1 channel.

Bought Sky+ HD, Mainly becuase of the F1, but also bought the Entertainment Extra package, so i get all the channels i could ever want. It only costs £35 a month, which let's be honest isn't a lot, so I consider it a great buy and worth every penny.

Anyone with the Sky channel looked up their coverage this weekend? I knew they would show every session, I didn't know they'd be on continuous repeat as well! Qualifying is shown a total of 4 times on Saturday! But the cap in the feather for me, Sky have implemented a hardcore mode...

8.00pm Practice 1
10.20pm Practice 2
12.25am Practice 3
1.45am Qualifying
4.30am Live Race - build up
6.00am Live Race

WHUT? Sleep? Why?

I'll be sticking with BBC, after seeing the Sky F1 season Pre Show (which was shown on Pick TV) I wasn't impressed with the style of broadcasting they are going for anyway.

I have to say i agree from what i've seen so far. All the presenters are quite bland and well, presenterish. I find that whole in-studio thing to be impersonal and remote. The beeb get it right with their presenting-from-the-paddock style, as do ITV4 with their BTCC broadcasts. It makes you feel more a part of it.

Still, it's early days yet so i'll hold judgement until i see how they do it at Australia.

I do as well, but this is just the preview show so I hope this is just used for between races and they present mostly at the circuit in the paddock as well.

Looks like I will be getting it soon enough, (I'm 15, nearly 16.) my mom is happy to pay for the first two months, April/May until I finish the school year and can work over the summer to pay off that.

Actually thinking over it there Sky offer 2 months free as a introductory offer :dopey:

So after all I may have it in time for Malaysia, if not even Australia.. :D

Costs a lot over here though, €20 for the basic package, €2 a package from there on, €32 for the HD Sports package (Sky Sports HD 1, 2, 3, 4, Sky Sports News HD, Sky Sports F1 HD, ESPN, MUTV, LFC TV, Chelsea TV, etc) plus €15 for multiroom..

So that equates to €20 + (€2 X 4) + €32 + €15 = €75 a month..

Add to that the once off set up costs, 1 free box + 1 for €30, plus €35 set up costs..

So €75 + €65 = €140 for first month.

Yearly cost = (€75 X 12) - (€75 X 2) = €900 - €150 = *puts nerd hat on* a grand total of €750 for the year..

Anyone know a cheaper route? I know you can get Sky Sports 1 and 2 for €16 and pay another 16 for the rest but as a Liverpool fan I would quite like to have all sports channels, needs to be a HD package for F1 even though I don't have a HD telly.. Going for all the cheap packages cause that opens up a lot of channels for not a lot more.. Mom would like to have the use of it too and she said she would pay off that side of the bill (multi-room) and that's that really.. Quite a lot when the only reason were getting it is so I don't miss F1.. Although it comes with a lot of advantages..

EDIT: Turns out I don't need HD for the channel so that takes multiroom down by €5 and the general package down by another €10..

So maybe €60 a month.. Meaning €600 for the year + installation prices.

I will be watching all the races live free via a German free to air satellite channel ;-)

NINE_HUNDRED
Tell me more..

well I already have a freesat box that will receive non freesat channels so I just need a second dish that I will point at those German satellites for glorious free f1 in hd as well I believe, its also totally legal.... probably lol

obviously commentary will be in German and I don't speak a word of it so radio 5 live should help me out there.
