I was looking for videos on kazaa and i came across a video of a benneton exploding into flames in the pits can someone tell me who the driver was in this incident?

Jos Verstappen.

It was only a quick blast anyways.
But it shows how hot those brakes are when they can light up the fuel.

Interesting incident, that one.

Benetton had actually made a small modification to the nozzle to improve fuel flow, despite clear advice from the FIA at the start of the season that anyone caught doing so would be disqualified from the championship.

Result - Tom Walkinshaw got sacked. Which was fine, except he was leaving anyway...

... and he was off to manage Ligier, which at the time was managed by Flavio Briatore...

Verstappen was a future star :star: in F1 I reckon, great driver shame about that accident :gcar:

I don't think it was the accident that scuppered his career. More that he was in the Benetton team, which was at the time far too focussed on Michael Schumacher to realise that actually the second guy could be a reasonable pedaller too.
