It's very easy. Download the GPL Demo 2004 (it comes only with the Glen, New York) and install it at your harddrive. Then, just copy the other 10 tracks from the CD to c:\sierra\gpl (or whatever root you have)\tracks :)

Yay! Thanks! :D 👍

Hey all, i just got this game a few days ago and i really suck at it. Can anyone gie me a few pointers, i have meneged to stop spinning at every corner but im so slow over a lap. Can anyone give me some pointers to get the speed up through the corners without overdriving?

I wouldn't be able to drive a gpl car w/o my wheel, I don't see how anyone can be a keyboard driver, but some people can do it. Give this game a chance, buy a wheel, and the fastest computer you can, add alot of practice and you will love this game.
BTW, I'm running 1.3GHz, GeForce2, and dialup.
Be sure to use manual transmission and turn off brake and throttle help. Also, you guys would really enjoy racing online, try it!

Our friends down on the Gold Coast used to have it, and a Force Feedback wheel with the Ferrari symbol in the middle. I didnt get to do the championship races, so I just went into practice mode, it was GREAT FUN:) :)
I especially liked the fact that there was a clutch button and sequential shifter. AND IT HAD THE OLD BATHURST!!!!!:) 👍 👍

all the guys that are serious gpl players will like Driver's republic. :) i have 4 invites to the alpha testing if anyone wants.

I just started playing GPL yesterday... I first saw it in the most recent issue of Top Gear magazine (Oldie Game of the Month) and they said it was really realistic and can run on any PC (ha!) so I downloaded a demo. That didn't work, so just yesterday (Saturday 27th) I tried a different one from FileFront and it works fine with a few details turned off. Although to get it running really smoothly I have to get going to about 20, press F1 for help, and then exit that and press pause to unpause it. After that it works great, and I can really get a fairly good lap time with my keyboard! Although when I get one I'll switch to a Driving Force Pro. A truly stunning simulator. 👍

Do yourself a favour and forget the keyboard. Don't even touch it until your wheel has arrived.

GPL with a keyboard is simply ***** and s****** :D

No way hozay... it's great with the keyboard. If your version came with a replay of a Ferrari blasting round Watkins Glen, then that's how good I am with a keyboard. Seriously...

I installed GPL on my new laptop last night and it works fine for about 15 minutes or so then it shuts down and goes to the desktop. It does that each time I play the game, but not on any other programs I have on the computer. What going on? Anyone know?

To the thread question: I would play, but I don't have a copy. Plenty are on eBay, however. Even seeing it has me convinced that it is an excellent game.

To the second-most recent response: Care to explain?

Hey guys, I have GPL on CD along with a CD I burned with all the patches, add-ons and so on. I will give it to anyone who wants it. Just pay for shipping. I loved the game also but no one ever played it when I was so its just been sitting. I think it will be around $5.00 to ship it by USPS Priority mail. Just let me know and I will get it out to you. I also have a brand new, never been opened Dirt Track Racing - Sprint Cars. I will send that to anyone who wants it for $8.00 shipped. Just let me know. I have many old racing games like Nascar 4 and a few others if anyone wants them. There is nothing wrong with any of these, I just dont play them anymore.

cool to see this one still around, only been 6 months since I drove the mighty Ferrari...around the Glenn and some of my work, the A-1 ring(never finished but still fun)

This game was what started it all for me. These were the men and cars I grew up with. I had a Thompson wheel, pedals, installed two VooDoo graphics cards and had to add cooling fans on top of them just to keep them working. Had all the patches, the tracks everyone was creating, would download engine sounds. It was really "open source". I would love to see a "re-make" of GP Legends for a PS3. I am thinking of putting together a serious gaming PC just for racing sims and online play. I miss GP Legends. Anyone run it under Vista?

I have it on my WIN XP laptop and it runs fine. I have not tried to load it on my Win 7 64 bit system though ;)

I started with it in 1998 when it was first released and up until rFactor came out I was still driving it regularly. Now my desktop has GTR and rFactor and I haven't even driven those in a couple years.

GT 5 on the PS3 for me since early December 2010.

:)

Got a link for the project? I did the last A-1 Ring '98 work so I know whats involved...thats a monumental project and well worth me parking GT5 for a while to indulge in GPL which will be brillant with my almost new G-27 wheel instead of the cheezo TM wheel I used back in the day...

Agreed. Can't wait until the full length Isle of man course is released.
