Hey guys, finally got around to uploading some of the photos I've shot with the 7D. Been enjoying shooting photos and video with it very much. I'm still fairly new to still photography, so feedback is more than welcome! :D 👍

EF-S 18-135mm F/3.5-5.6 IS
EF 75-300mm F/4-5.6 USM III

Thanks man! :) I shot both of those with the 18-135 "kit" lens. The one up top with the birds was a million to one shot, autofocus had just focused onto them at 300mm and caught it landing. Another 0.1 of a second and it would have been too late, My only complaint with that one is that it's a little fuzzy.

EDIT: Experimenting with trippy levels and contrast

Crazy bird kept eating the "bait" even after I adjusted my exposure a couple times, and snapping away like a machine gun,

duuude if you bumped your contrasts and saturation a bit on this

tree_platform.jpg

BUT without it loosing it's blueish tint, it would be aaawesome! it would only be missing some Ewoks!!

Like this?

tree_platform_sat_resized.jpg

Yeah it does look a bit like an Ewok village,, shot this at Capilano Canyon in North Vancouver. They built a bunch of these platforms and walkways between the trees there. The amazing thing is that they are actually purely suspended by the trees, without any bolts drilled through them (which would probably kill the tree,)

Just shot this one today.

I heard on the radio yesterday that there were a couple humpback whales in Burrard Inlet, on the West Vancouver side. So I attached the 75-300mm and drove to the beach there, in rush hour traffic. I waited for probably an hour or more at a pier, gazing at the vast expanse of water. I saw one of the whales squirting water quite a few kilometres away, a tiny speck on the horizon even at 300mm. "There's no way I'll get a decent shot at this range" I thought to myself. I was about to give up and go home.

Then, to the right of the pier, about 5 metres from me, the sound of a blowhole! Imagine the expression on my face when I saw this pop up right in front of me!

No tailspin shots or breaching, unfortunately. Maybe next time, but in the meantime I can say that I've captured a Humpback Whale. :)

My bro and a cat he was looking after, named "Sebastien".

I like that last shot. 👍 Just needs a bit of sharpening up and the shadows brought up. :)

Thanks Lars, I'll look into that later, although I was aiming for a soft glow look. :)

Some dam pictures.

Dam comments are more than welcome on the dam pictures. :D

Nice work there Rob, I like the spillway shot. To me it captures the magnitude of it all and the angle is a bit different, makes it neat.

👍 Keep it up mate

B&W photo is damn nice :D

I think the 3rd photo may have looked better if it was taken in the middle of the dam to make it symmetrical if that was possible.

Thanks dudes, come to think of it I did shoot a more symmetrical version also:

Good stuff, I like 👍

Good stuff GP, hope 11 didn't end badly :scared:

Thanks Neal.

 Nope didn't end up bad. But could have been very bad, heheheh. The bikes were a foot above my head and landed about 3 feet behind me.

This 1970s Yamaha TT sounded awesome when it roared over the ramp,

Thanks guys!

Bought the EF 70-200mm f/4L IS lens a week or so ago, been testing with it, and am amazed at how much detail this lens brings!

Enjoy!

This older couple above the bridge were feeding the birds down below with bread crumbs, causing quite an attraction for the swans, ducks, geese and raccoons. The standing raccoon posted earlier noticed this on that log he was on, and crossed over to the other side. He then showed up right in front of the couple () much to their surprise. Older man then shooed him away. Big WTF moment there. :odd:
