Gr2 at Monza, what a disaster.

I’ll probably get trashed for this but I think Monza is overrated. Two painful chicanes and some boring straights. The Lesmo is alright and the fast chicane(Ascari?) and parabolica are alright though.

Should be good for overtaking but since the slipstream effect is so low, it just becomes another braking contest.

I honestly would’ve preferred another fantasy track instead:boggled:
It's something like Le Mans. It's more of the history that surrounds the track than the track itself :D
Can't complain though, since I'm competitive in that track

I returned to Sport mode after months off, straight to Gr.2 Monza. Had 4 great races, SR built up every time, my DR-A is building slowly, came top half of the field every time even though my car number was wayyyy down the bottom (DR rank, iirc). Loved it. T1 was pure carnage but being extremely careful and sticking to the sides of the road and avoiding the middle got me through. I generally find going into T1 on the outside, super deep generally avoids the late brakers, and going tight on the inside often avoids them but I ended up going well wide T2 to avoid the people steamrolling through. Fair to say most of the field had penalties from T1, I never did in any of the races.

I never really expect a win because I don't use CSA (and 90% of the really fast people do). Last time I won a race with loads of S rank people was when I abused CSA for a day to see what I could do with it. So I'm more than happy with 5th or 8th or whatever. Was great racing too once we were clear of T1.

Yeah but that's the entire point of Monza. Everything comes down to your exit speed out of the chicanes and your ability to hold onto it through the later turns since the consequences of the exit speed are exponential. It's a unique challenge.

Stop-start tracks are becoming all too common now for me
Monza's just one of them

They should really link your circuit experience with Sport Mode.

Like, you can only race Gr.3 and above if you have all golds on that track, and N class or Gr.4 if you have at least silver??

Just a thought!

I wouldn't mind, except for the fact that I have 4 accounts and doing that means I have to master CE on all of those
Aside from time, my problem isn't really about getting the gold -I could do that in one try- it's about me being such a perfectionist that I wouldn't settle for just gold until I'm satisfied with my time :banghead:
Also not all the tracks are in CE

OK, i get it. I was gonna question your Golding all CE's quickly because I think I did most in my first try after not having played Gran Turismo since about 1 year after GT6 was released. But I get the OCD thing about thinking it wasnt Gold enough!!!!! I kinda have the same disease, it goes all the way back to the original Gran Turismo and that was pretty tough to get Golds on all of the license tests, I remember having weeks in getting Gold for my Super license because those were full lap tests. I probably still have that memory card, I know I have the PS1 and Gt disc.

I see what you did there (gold enough) =^=
GT2's (haven't played 1) driving tests were hell! I was never able to gold them  don't really know where my perfectionism started, since I settled for just gold in GT5 and 6 even if I know I could've done better

Yeah, since all we had was campaign in the early GT's (i never played online till Sport) once I won all of the races and got all the different prize cars I would go back and Gold all my license tests. I think GT6 was the first one that I never got to that point. It would not surprise me if I spent 8 weeks getting Golds on all GT1 tests, they could be a bear. I remember one test with an NSX (stock) that covered a 2 or 3 turn track section I kept missing by less than a 1/10, I bet I spent 6-8 hours getting Gold on that one test. :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

I had a few decent races, unfortunately the last 2 were dirty and in those 2 races I dropped from 99 SR to 56 SR.
Here's a little clip of how to lose mucho SR in a couple of seconds.

I already got punted in T1 yet that's a given, started 2nd in that race, laggy 1 bar connection in 3rd did not brake in time.

Why didn't you keep to the inside? And when the blue car came in on the inside, why did you push in then?? Self inflicted, and it was the yellow car on your outside that got hard done by. No sympathy from me, pick a line and let faster cars pass.
