The game that evolved into Gran Turismo 3, does anybody know what happened to GT2000?

I have found afew screens and the graphics are like semi Playstation 1 and Playstation 2 in other words, crap.

The car selection looked tops but the track looked semi GT2ish.

GT2000 was also one of the demonstration titles for PS2 at E3, a long time ago.

I'm sure that somebody said there was a demo disk for it.
 
Is it possible that those pics you think are GT 2000 are actually GT2 running on a PC emulator with anti aliasing to make it look better?
 
GT 2000 was what GT3 was originaly going to be called, but after delays they diddnt manage to get the game released by 2000 so they saw no point in calling it Gt 2000.. or somthing like that.
 
GT2000 was basically GT2 ported to the PS2. The graphics were going to be similar: slightly cleaned up car models, refelction off the cars, better texture quality.

Then PD said "why are we making a half assed game, let's make GT3"

There was a demo for GT2000 I heard too, I played the 150 second demo for GT3 a long time ago. Trial Mountain, you could pick the S2k, Cobra R, or JGTC NSX and you got 150 seconds to race.


*edit* since I got my boot disk, I forgot I could play the demo again. I just loaded it up. It's so weird compared to GT3's final product.

Anyone have a GT2000 image? I want to play the demo of that now.
 
Wow iv;e neevr heard of GT2000. didnt really look like it chnaged except for a more shinier glare to the car and surroundings. for the people who play HL games. looks like they just turned on OpenGL.
