The first ad I remember seeing in the US was a TV spot where a simulated racing driver was racing around Rome, parked his Concept Viper GT-R at a corner, and went to a convienence store. Apparently, he'd left the "keys" in the ignition, because someone had stolen it! It was a really dumb ad, actually.
The GT2 ad was much neater, with a drawn-out engine note morphing into a drawn-out guitar riff while an in-car shot of a racing driver was going around a curve at ~200mph.
I even vaguely recall the GT1 TV ad: "Over 150 cars!" and various cars (I seem to recall an RX-7, an old 'Vette, and a Viper) going around Trial Mountain, bouncing over the curbs and all. ...I thought, "Yeah, right! 150 cars...who'd wanna play a game with non-racing cars?"
