Gran Turismo 4 = 2,000 Cars?!?

"April 14, 2003 - According to several online gaming sites, including Magic Box and Spong, rumors are flying out of Japan claiming that Gran Turismo 4 will feature 2,000 cars, more than 100 tracks, and be fully compatible with the PS2 Network Adapter.
Additionally, the game is said to have a new online battle mode which allows up to eight players simultaneously. Rumors also suggest the inclusion of online car trading, and full support for voice chat using a compatible headset. If the rumored inclusion of voice chat is true, it would imply that the game may support only broadband connections due to bandwidth considerations.

While all of these details are strictly rumors, some border on believable, even likely. But having 2,000 cars and 100 tracks is pretty far out there. Still, stranger things have happened, and the prospect is intriguing nonetheless.

Expect a full blowout on Gran Turismo 4 at this year's E3. Until then, why not talk about the 2,000 cars you'd like to see in the game on our official Gran Turismo board. "

2k!!!!

wholly friggin cow!!!
hope they dont forget the fiat tho :p

2000 cars? 100 tracks? :odd: I'll believe it when I see it.

Read the part saying this info is strictly rumors.

Remember all we have heard directly from Polyphony (as far as I know) is old tracks plus one from China and one from Hong Kong.

I haven't counted but if we are talking in 1 direction only that must be about 20.

As I said before. Only believe what you hear from Sony, PD, one of the developer people on the team, or a very trusted gaming magazine, even then you must be a little skeptical. Otherwords you might as well throw the other information away unless you can confirm it...

No way in hell. There simply isn't enough room on a DVD for 2000 cars and 100 tracks.
How long do you think it would take to model and render 2000 cars anyway? Plus all the physics and such that each car has.

It just can't happen.

That makes two of us. But hey, with downloadable cars, we could hit that eventually.

If GT4 has 2000 cars, I guess between the rendering and all, we could expect the game to hit the stores sometime in April 2009

2000 cars just seem unbelieveable to me. And 100 tracks ? It's just unbelieveable. I heard that GT3 used up almost the whole DVD for creating the game, but will GT4 fit ? Maybe they're using one of those dual-layer DVD discs or something .... I can't remember.

It'll most likely be two discs like GT2 had.

That would make sense. Almost like deja vu.

If it did have 2000 cars would that mean 200 skylines, 200 miatas, 200 lancers, 200 imprezzas, 200 fiats and 1000 decent cars ?

LOL excactly what I was thinking :D

With 100 tracks, it would probably take you about 2-3 years to beat the game, especially if they include endurance races.

i hope they bring back used cars.. those were the best

anyone here play sports car GT.
there were hundreds of cars cos cars were easy to build!
so MAAAYBE the developers will alow "hybrid" type cars to be downloaded or summing. Maybe the GT website will have new cars every few weeks!
the online gaming option sounds great, I can finally get to kick some of your guys ASSES!!! :P

Offical huh ? my oh my...

An further more the games not complete YET... Only certain parts will be shown NEXT month at the Convention

sounds nice! But I'm not all for GT, only for the realism. I'm not worried about completing the game at all. I just want to be able to drive and race my buddy.

Maybe it's not for me...ah haha LOL To each their own...

Yes! And if calculate with that rate that's...uhh...(carry the 1)...a lot of time! :D

2000 cars x 1 month = 2000 months.

2000 months / 12 months (a year) = 166.6 years :odd:...

True, but don't forget though not one person works at modeling all the cars...

166.6 years / 15 modelers = 11.11 years

Modelers and designers = A crap load of money...
