Gran Turismo 4 doesn't initialize

Hey guys and gals (sorry my comma key isn't working LOL)

After a long time playing Burnout 3 and after I finished that Burnout Revenge I got Gran Turismo 4 out again. It was in perfect working condition when I put it away but now it fails to read completely. Now I know it's not the disc (it has virtually no scratches on it) and it's not the laser (I cleaned that 12 times already) so what is it? I put it in when the console has started nothing happens. When I go into Browser it says Disc Read Error. Occasionally saying: Please Insert A PlayStation or PlayStation 2 Disc. Does anyone know what's wrong with it? My PS2 plays other games perfectly. THere's nothing wrong with the GT4 disc!!!!!! :scared:
 
Dual layer discs can be a pain to read for some consoles as I have been there a few times with certain PS2's and GT4 as I have lots of them in the house, how did you clean the laser? was it manually with the lid off the PS2 or was it with a disc you insert with little brushes?

You do know there are 2 lenses that need cleaning on a PS2 the actual laser and a reflective lense directly under the laser where hairs and dust can gather .. this is definitely a DIY take the lid off and carefully clean it with a small cotton bud or something similar task .... good luck with it mate 👍
 
ive never had a problem wth my GT4, its never crashed and always loaded ryt away, good luck with fixing the problem
 
I had this problem awhile ago and I ended up having to get a new PS2, the old one was the BIG one now I have the slim one and it hasn't had any problem yet. I gave my old one to my brother and he took it to work and his boss took it apart and found that the reader/laser had craped out, he replaced it and it worked perfectly ;)
