Hello

I am a great fan of car games and i found it by chance a friend that talk to me about a game named Gran Turismo 4. Anybody can say me if it is a car game or tourism? If tourism... is there rural tourism or only about houses in town?

Thanks

1. You found GT4 by chance?
2. GT4 is a racing game which simulates reality, so if you usually play for example NFS or such, you might not like GT4 because of the "reality".

That didn't make much sense did it? Anyway, try GT4 - you'll probably get hooked! 👍

Gran Turismo is a car racing game. It tries to accurately simulate real cars, both street cars and race cars. It does a very good job. Some cars are small, normal cars that you see every day and some are very fast race cars like you only see on TV.

But you will always be driving on a race course. Some courses go through cities or towns, and some courses go through open countryside. But they are always closed laps, and there is no way to just drive around freely, the way you can in a game like Grand Theft Auto or The Getaway.

I don't mean to talk to you like a baby but it seems that English is not your first language and I want to make sure you understand.

Welcome to GTPlanet!

Gran Turismo doesnt have lambo's and porsche's. Sorry if that was what you wanted. But it does have other great cars. And that is what seperates it from other racing games and what maks gt a great game. It has cars like: Pagani Zonda, Ford GT, Sauber Mercedes, SLR McLearn. And so on. You will greatly enjoy this game if you are into racing like this.

i like NFS very much. And tunning and great car movies like The Fast and The Furious and Too Fast Too Furious. Is granturismo like that?
ah, and have the cars damage? i like real damage

Sorry. If hat is what you are looking for, it doesnt have that. But you can lower ride height, put on rims, and put on an spoiler. Thats the best gt did. They didnt want to be like nfs. If they did that. It wouldnt be gt.

You'll find a nice selection of tuner cars from Mine's, Blitz, Spoon, Mugen, etc.
But nothing like in those movies.
You can add a spoiler, and wheels to cars, however, damage is a no.
But don't get your hopes down.

Gran Turismo 5 is suspected to appeal to more people, and is going to have damage.
BTW, like everyone said, yes, its a racing game.
Gran Turismo comes from Grand Touring.

The only driver is you.

There are no Formula One cars in the sense that you understand. But there is a generic Formula One car - available in many different colours - based on the 2004 rules.

No damage, and no one is really sure what kind of damage they'd like to see in the future. I enjoy stuff like NFS, too, but GT4 is far better.

As far as I know, Ferrari, Porsche, and Lamborghini will not sell licenses to PD to use their cars because of some deal with Electronic Arts that reserves their cars exclusively for Need For Speed. (Gran Turismo offers Porsches indirectly in the form of Porsches tuned by the Ruf company)

No. PD doesn't want to pay to use them
Electronic Arts or EA, no longer has them.
2-Rufs are not tuned Porsches.

Hey you're exactly right. Ferrari and Porsche both have their own racing games, dedicated to racing their breed of car only. Ferrari's most recent one (not sure who developed it) was for racing the 355 only. From what I saw of it, it seemed pretty disappointing. Though Ferrari has signed on to Forza Motorsport on XBOX, so I'm not sure what the go there is.

I'm a massive Porsche fan, so for me, the RUF just won't do it. I know that its a hardcore version of a Porsche, but I reckon that the original is the best (to use the overused cliche). Anyone think that maybe Porsche and Ferrari don't want their cars to be compared? I mean, what happens if an Enzo gets beaten by a Supra or something?

WOOOOHOOOOOOOOO I get to correct Famine!!! Happy day:) :) :)

The Formula GT car is not based on 2004 rule Formula 1. It has slick tyres, whereas Formula 1 has been driving on grooved tyres since 1998. The tyre dimensions also appear to be different, and look more like Indycar tyres from about 10 years ago. Also, the track appears to be wider than allowed by modern F1 regulations, though I have never checked the Formula GT car width.

EDIT: Huh. Maybe I celebrated too soon. Famine said BASED ON Formula 1, making my points a bit nitpicking.

As for the on topic portion, I'm still trying to get my head around the idea of a game about tourism.... Hotel Tycoon, anyone? :yuck:

Indeed - I was referring only to the aerodynamic, body and engine regulations, but you are correct to point out inconsistancies in the tyres for this era.
