Gran Turismo 5 Evolution Mod Discussion

Hello! I have a new update on Gran Turismo 5 Evolution.

I have been working on expanding the racing modification feature, and the results are as follows: 290 cars can now be racing modified with 110 unique outcomes (the discrepancy comes from all the dupes the game has). This feature was very underutilised in the vanilla game, with only 17 cars being racing moddable.

The selection of racing mods is limited because cars in the Premium Dealership have their prices tied to the racing modification, and having racing mods for the same price as the car in the dealership makes no sense. The new racing modifications have been priced competitively and according to how much the base car changes.

With the big increase in cars that support this feature, I felt the need to indicate to the player which cars can be race modded or not, and I did that through the cars' Descriptions. If a car can be racing modded, its description will say "This car has a racing modification." in whatever language you're playing:

On the subject of credits, I have added credits for the mod, alongside the GT5 Master Mod credits:

I have also updated some copyright notices to 2026:

The mod will release in 2026, and I'm still working on it and polishing the experience to guarantee it works without issues from the very start. Thank you for the interest shown in Gran Turismo 5 Evolution.

Amazing work so far. Quick question, will the added racing modifications replace the actual car with the racing variant, or just replace the car body to that of the racing variant, leaving it with the settings and bought parts you had installed prior?

so you have a reference for the actual specifications of the cars
What is this for/in relation to?

Thank you! It completely replaces the car with the racing variant, including all the parts that come by default in the race car.

I believe the car specs post is to help me improve the car specs as I mentioned that as part of the mod. I've already made the changes I wanted but it's always nice to have more resources.

Fair enough, it just seems quite random at first so it threw me

Do you think it might be possible to import the newer cars from gt6 or the ps2 modeled cars that didn't make it into gt5 into the game? But I feel that it would be quite a bit of work to figure out.

Any possibility of getting the Daytona 500 added as an endurance event? NASCARs are sorely underutilized in GT5, and including the Great American Race would be a neat idea in my opinion.

I like this idea! Is there going to be a good, long NASCAR championship with AI that doesn't spin the player out like it does in base GT5, please, Erik? (Quick li'l edit: It happens often to me on Daytona Oval's normal game NASCAR final.)

That's actually a great idea, I'll see if I can add it, probably replacing the Indy 500, since 1. It doesn't have licenced Indycars, 2. I'm happy with 9 Endurances and 3. Two oval endurances is not good for gameplay variety on such long races. Thank you for the suggestion!

The NASCAR Series has been lengthened like most if not all late game events, tyre wear will play a factor now, too.

Unfortunately, I can't change the way AI drives NASCARs around ovals, you will have to survive them on your own, because trying to stop them from spinning you would make them too slow.

Yes, installing it will be easy, the mod will be distributed as a PKG file which can easily be installed on a jailbroken PS3 or emulator.
Thank you!! Oh thank you!! I tried to install GT6 Spec II mod on my powerful PC and I couldn't understand anything due to it not having easy tutorials. You rock!!

are you able to add more cars into the gran turismo rally special event? Or are you locked to just 4
Able, yes, but I won't for two reasons: 1. You'd have to wait longer before starting each special stage as you have more cars in front, which can get annoying pretty quickly. 2. The Mt. Aso tarmac stage I added barely supports 4 cars, as the player spawns out of bounds and then gets restored to the track. As it stands with 4 cars, this is merely a visual anomaly which doesn't affect gameplay, but any more cars and it would be unplayable.

Ah, cool. I quite like those events but it does make sense. What about the template with eifel pasted over it? Or is that one too glitched

You mean the Eifel Circuit? That one works fine and is in use in some GT Mode races. It's almost the same as regular Eifel, just with different lighting, non-working pit stops and a shorter draw distance.

I was just talking for another rally event. Because it does have a point-to-point mode. And it's good for a high-speed tarmac event

And by the way thank you for keeping the GT5 modding scene alive. I've liked seeing all the progress being made

Actually, I noticed I forgot to ask you something.

Does this mod feature a self-driving mode? I don't want to do the autobahn achievement all by myself.
