As the "Latest Discussion Thread" is going crazy again I'll better post it here

I have talked to someone who has played the demo at gamescom today and he told me that he was driving a Ford Focus WRC on the Nurburgring and after a few crashes he noticed that the handling was pretty bad and the maximum speed on the straights sunk from 240 to about 150 km/h and at the end he wasn't even able to upshift to the 4. gear!

I didn't read anything about mechanical damage so far so I thought this might be new, because to me it was.

Maybe someone who's going to go to GC in the next couple of days could try it too and reply if the mechanical damage is "realistic"? :)

A feeling of deja vu! It's weird to read this twice on two different threads...

We hear ya... but it's hard to comment when we dont have much to chew on, especially when your subject is so serious
and does not have room for us to counter-argue, or "slide-a-Pokemon-under"... (that should be the new terms/expression for trollers).

Hot brakes anyone??? please get confirmation on this guys!

Im guessing you're referring to my picture edit there...
How was that trolling

Realistic is a tough one because damage is pretty complicated, but as long as it's reasonably accurate and more importantly uniform and dependable (ie you know what kind of trouble you are getting into) I think that's a huge step in the right direction...

That's because I thought maybe one of our car-experienced GTP members could at least try and check if it's comprehensible :)
Because the guy I talked to isn't that much into cars and racing to judge such complicated things like mechanical damage

Sorry I should have looked at that pics closely before posting, after seeing a Pokemon it was clear that my question didn't really fit into the discussion :dunce:
It's just that mechanical damage is by far more important to me than optical damage and hearing that GC featured the first public demo build with included mechanical damage made almost my day 👍
But only almost, since there's still the possibility that it's not as awesome as the rest of the game. :nervous:

This game will put my relationships in jeopardy.:ouch:

Well you've taken the first step.

By saying 'relationships', you have already accepted that any relationship you get into will not last long, and it's all down to this game.

Polyphony Digital will be proud of what they have created :)

A decrease in new born throughout the world?
A decrease in world population for the next 5 years?

not necessarily.... Mom, Dad, Sister, Granma, Denise, and Denephew :P

Keeping it in the family.......how very........inbred of you. :p

Well the world is over-populated...

PD are helping to save the world :D

Then shouldn't their two key markets be India & China? 💡;)

But but but, GT is your relationship.

It's all about harboring a semi-obsessive contagious enthusiasm for the game, then taking that and "sneezing" on anyone near you so they can join you in your dementia.

Worked for me, got my girl hooked , some boys of mine and even my pops (who does not like the DS3 but would be fine witha wheel, tsk old people.)

If I hustle harder I could probably get them to chip in for the CE on the grounds that we will "all" enjoy it.:cool:

The EVO IV GSR is now premium

sigh, anyway that PS4 quality graphics will make my day even the lack of Porsche, it could have look great in PD hands. But I hope they improve the AI and not cars moving on rails that they don't even stop evade if there is a obstacle or a car stop in front, they just continue on and on.

We have seen AI in several videos (around E3, I'm thinking?) do its best to avoid a player stopped in the middle of the road. It was quite impressive, and someone even made a gif of it. Unfortunately, I'm not sure where to find either the particular video or the gif.
