So I don't know how many of you play have played both on PS5, but I have had a PS5 since 2021, and only recently I decided to cave in and play the PS5 version, since before that I was just playing the PS4 version on my PS5.

The thing that I found odd is how the PS4 version of the game played without zero issue on PS5 and I never had performance issues. Yes game doesn't look as sharp but that's about it.

Now I've been playing the PS5 version for 1 month and I'm honestly considering just going back to the PS4 version. I've noticed performance issues occurs in some tracks like frame skipping (I guess we call it frame drop) in multiple tracks when there is a lot of cars nearby me. It also happens sometimes in the rain.

I just find this ridiculous. The PS5 is supposed to be this all powerful system and it can't even have this game run smoothly at all times....oh right I need a PS5 Pro right? haha.....

Anyways, PS5 has been such a disappointment....barely any good games and the games I love like Gran Turismo seem to play worse than the PS4 versions.

What mode are you using?
Tv or monitor?
Hdmi version?

Yeah, I guess it's not really surprising. Playing a PS4(Pro) game on the PS5 is less demanding for the hardware so you won't experience less (or no) frame drops.
And yes, there are definitely frame drops on the PS5 running the PS5 version, at least for me. It's most obvious with many cars on the track and demanding weather effects like rain or sunsets.

I have had very few issues on either PS4 Pro or PS5. I've had less than 5 or so frame drop situations in the span of 3 years. Hardly a cause for this much hyperbole. In other words, it seems from my vantage point that you are being needlessly overdramatic about a very small issue. If it bothers you this much, just go back to the PS4 Pro (and the atrocious loading times). For me, the small graphical upgrade (tiny, really...), faster loading times, and SOPHY make it well worth dealing with the rare frame drop.

Some tracks are indeed having those issues. Depends on the race & time of the day. Daytona, Kyoto, Trail Mountain, Nurburgring are biggest offenders.

But when you play on TV with VRR, everything is smooth. It's like they forgot about users with older TVs.

I remember that on the release there were no such issues, so they were probably introduced with 120fps patch.

My normal PS5 was pretty good. I've had GT7 crash a couple times a few months after I bought my PS5P. Haven't had any issues since.
My PS4 made taking race photos the worse.

There are a few tracks and weather layouts that have issues, the most prominent one is trial mountain in both directions has frame rate issues at the hairpin on to or off the straight.

There are a few more places where it’s almost as bad but the lack of high (elevated) close scenery masks/hides it a bit more.

These appear to be track model/mesh/geometry issues and are present in all versions of the game.

That said they don’t cause any fundamental issues just more a slightly jarring feeling in all camera modes (chase cam all the way through to VR)

With the amount of patches since launch it appears they are ok with these minor frame drop situations for other reasons (probably gameplay and network)

Of they are too much a pain to fix compared to the small impact on user XP. Personnaly I've never noticed them.

TM is the biggest one, the stutter can be quite pronounced, especially in Sport mode.

But agree as I said not game breaking levels

I played both, but I went from PS4 Pro to PS5 Pro

Remember, the PS4 Pro is a very robust machine. It isn't just GT that displays exceptional quality on PS4 Pro. MGS5 on the PS4Pro looks amazing. The power of the PS4 Pro is one of the reasons I delayed my PS5 purchase and waited for a PS5 Pro. I suspect that the PS5 Pro will be equally as exceptional when the PS6 comes out.
I just find this ridiculous. The PS5 is supposed to be this all powerful system and it can't even have this game run smoothly at all times....oh right I need a PS5 Pro right? haha.....
Well, ya. If what you are looking for is an upgrade from a PS4 Pro, then yes, you'd need the PS5 Pro.

The PS4 Pro is, in essence, a PS4.5. The PS5 has it's advantages, but it's not like going from PS3 to PS4, this is called the law of diminishing returns.

And don't forget about the on board memory. I added enough memory to my PS5 to hold my entire PS4 library
Anyways, PS5 has been such a disappointment....barely any good games and the games I love like Gran Turismo seem to play worse than the PS4 versions.
Are there any "good" games that are not available on PS5? Or do you mean exclusive games, as in games that are not available on both systems?

Like, I find it really strange that someone buys a PS4Pro, whose entire purpose for existence is to be future proof, and then gets upset that his future proof system is on par with the base version of the current generation of systems.
