Gran Turismo 5's most annoying glitch

Happens to me from time to time, and I'm hardwired to the modem.

One bad connection spoils the bunch.

Makes me feel like Helen Keller when it happens.

being hardwired doesnt mean its NOT you. Hardwired is your best connection, but all you need is a slow down anywhere between your modem and you provider,or even from your provider to their connections.

it could be as simple as your neighbors suddenly spike the data stream, if 6 of 20 neighbors happen to be streaming a movie etc, it can stutter your connection.

there are so many variable to it, someone with the fastest most direct connection can still be the cause ,and someone with an average connection may never cause it if they dont have much overhead usage in their pathway to the net.

Apparently this has more to do with your sound settings in-game more than anything.
People have been changing to surrond or vice versa and playing with the environment options and it seems to work.
Personally, I changed to surround using only my TV speakers and it made an improvement.

I've had the same settings since 2.02 when the sound was tweaked, and i only have my TV speakers with some kind of custom EQ, I've never had any problems with it until 2.06, and no matter the settings on my TV or the game itself, it always gets muted, i can only hear the car in front or the one behind me but not mine, I always use stock exhausts which are obviously quieter than racing ones, but now its way too exagerated, its getting really annoying and has kept me away from playing the game for the last month, 2.07 did nothing to fix this problem, so its definetely not a problem with my settings, its the patch itself, maybe it is possible to fix this problem by using a fancy sound system but i can't do much to fix it myself, so i'm waiting for PD to fix it, it can't be left like that

Like Griffith500 said, it's a long way to Japan depending on your own location, especially if your connection isn't the fastest.

And there are certain games on PS3 which frequently give me error messages about server connections when going to the menus or at least ending up in unacceptable loading times, one of them being Need for Speed Hot Pursuit which should have a pretty big amount of servers around the world...
Not to mention TDU2, but that's completely Atari/Eden Games' fault.



This, it's the most annoying thing for me too. Then again, it's not up to PD fixing this, in most cases it's a problem with the users having incompatible connections types or other problems.



Seems logical as the output for 4 speakers is half missing when using a stereo. Still, I'm more satisfied with the small theatre option than I was before using living room, so I'll keep it until it gets changed/fixed. Also, I don't feel like I'm missing out sound when somebody drives in front of me, though I haven't spent much attention to that.

exactly, i can hear how a car is getting closer to me cuz the sound of my car starts getting drowned and when we are side by side, my car gets completey muted, and slowly starts to comeback after the other car is at least 30-40 ft away from me and it fully restores when the other car is at least 200 ft away from me, it really is ''unplayable stuff'' since i can't do proper gear changes without hearing my own car, like i've said, i've tried everything available but got no results so i'm staying away from the game until i read/hear its been fixed

I finished the FR seasonal finally this morning before work. I received the camaro left it in my delivery truck. When I came home it is no longer there I checked my garage and also checked to see if the seasonal was finished(which it is). Being the one I've dealt with most recently I'll say this is the most annoying glitch.

*edit* the seasonal is finished, I worded that wrong. So no new SS RM for me.

One of my biggest issues is being disconnected by psn servers. [268] And did ya know that they censor conne in dis*****cted? WTF?! That's a side-issue tho. ...Anyway, i've seen people mention it as not being that bad. You just reboot your router & in a couple of mins you're back online.

But what if it used to happen once or twice per day & now it happens so frequently that it's ruining the game for me....

My connection is more than adequate, it's a type 2, it is hard-wired and frankly i'm fed up with the 3rd-degree asking me if i have a bad connection. Now, it happens in approx 5 times in 2 hours... Sometimes within a few mins of each other.

My router isn't exactly convenient to physically reach and i shouldn't have to reboot it so often. Especially as i never used to need to. PSN really needs to sort this out once and for all. NOT HAPPY!

If I need to record how slow my game runs I will. I timed 15 minutes for Main Menu>GT Life and then it didn't even connect to the server, I know it's my problem for having a slow connection but it is not as slow as GT makes it seem.

If you got another PS3 for online play, I wouldn't recommend signing in to PSN while playing GT5 on that machine then. Sorry for my statement then, 15 minutes indeed is quite embarrassing.

Don't mix up what I've said - the "unplayable mess" was directed at Classic about his connection issues. The things I said about my own sound experiences were a completely different chapter.

Only the "con" in disconnection gets censored.

Anyway what if you try to sign in manually from your XMB menu before rebooting your router? If you have no internet problems using different other devices, it's probably a PS3 connection issue rather than your router.

I'm assuming you are referring to online play, I don't race online much but I *do* often lose my connection when I am in the seasonals, it seems to time me out if I don't do anything for a while which pings their servers, even sometimes following a long race. It's a little like how the PSN store times you out for inactivity after a few minutes.

Then, invariably, when it asks if i want to re-connect, it hangs or I get an error, then doesn't let me try again (ironic as if I log in *without* connecting it asks me about 10 times). The only way i've found I can reconnect is by quitting the game and running "internet connection test" from the XMB, which seems to unblock whatever the issue is, then load up the game and connect to the servers again. Usually if I quit out of GT5 and simply reload it, the connection still errors out

This is not a glitch so much as a very annoying bit of programming... the paint chips. ACK! I don't mess with painting cars very often, but when I do it's an exercise in patience and tolerance, because it takes at least a minute just to scroll halfway through my list of paint chips in the default view. Just as an example, I have around 50 "black" chips and they are scattered all over the list in groups of one, two and three. Why aren't they all in one place with 50 of this item available? Yes I know I could sort them by item name, manufacturer, hue, etc. and that helps little. The way the chips are listed is pure nonsense. I don't need to see indivudual paint chips "one white. one white. two white. one white. three white." Maybe it's just me, but this is extremely annoying.

Sometimes that works, sometimes not. I guess it's just safer to just reboot the router while i'm at it & i reckon it would, or SHOULD, lessen the likelihood of a reoccurance.

If it's not that, i'm getting disconnected form lobby servers either while in the room or browsing through a list of rooms. Last night, i entered 10+ lobbies in a row & was confronted with "You have been disconnected from the lobby server" every single time!

So it's either that, the [268] error i mentioned previously, or a new one as follows. "Entry was refused due to network incompatabilty with the room owner." [768] Umm... we're in the same country... with both of our connections just as good as each other's...

It's just 1 thing after another. I spend more time dealing with error messages spitting me out, between every race i succeed in entering, than i do in participating in any single race!!

When i finally do get to race, all this frustration then affects my driving, causing me to make silly errors that put me out of contention. Racing online is fast becoming pointless for me now.

This is just unacceptable & PSN need to get their act together & get it sorted.

Yeah exactly. I just keep getting the same error messages with no improvement. It just gets more and more frequent. Ahh thanks for the tip: "internet connection test" ... will try that & reply with how well it pans out. Cheers.

For me it is when people can't see one or some of the cars on track, I hear people complaining about this all the time and have this problem from time to time myself. It seems like a major stuff up to me, the other night I herd one guy say he could only see three on track out of the nine that were actually there. Then the next race he could see all the cars again.

Oh man don't even get me started on this one..
I have had that so many times, like, not to me, but rooms I am in. You see them on the same part of the track and the cars are Bouncing back are forth violently on everyone elses screen but on their screen nothing bad is happening makes is SO hard to pass, and scary to pass if Damage is on.

I wanted to comment and say I also experience this "tire sound loss", but looking within this thread all I see is a competition of which bug is considered the worst.

Now I know I'm kind of a "thread title nazi", but really, the title has lead this topic astray.

Back on topic, this bug has definately increased in frequency lately. Most of my friends online experience this problem too. We've tried various things to get the sound back but nothing but leaving and rejoining has worked.

I've seen it happen lately as soon as my second race, where it used to only happen after lots and lots of racing.

To my understanding the most annoying glitch is the Nurburgring 24h 4WD glitch where players cut the track before the norschleife portion for a >2 min lap time.

It's not exactly a glitch, but the most annoying thing to me is waiting up to 300 days to get from GT Auto back to the GT Life menu. Actually, all menu-to-menu transitions are like that. It feels like I am trying to play BF3 on a 90mhz pentium from 1995.

Navigating the menu's is horrible. So very slow.
It could be improved easily!
For instance, getting booted to GT Life and having to re-enter the UCD for each car I want to buy really bugs me.

It gets to me too, as well as everybody I ever ask. I'm sure it would be simple to change this and maybe a few other things... oh well, hopefully GT6 will fix issues like this, for now, we should try and be happy with the game we already have.

The two most annoying bugs in this game has to be when you only see a few cars out of the entire grid, and the black screen when entering the race.

I have found out that with the first is when fixed host is set you run the chance of not seeing some of the cars due to only one person is taking the brunt of the bandwidth, I haven't ran into this when fixed host is turned off (meaning everyone shares the brunt of the bandwidth), you also will see less lag in game.

So the only real annoying bug is the black screen issue, people sometimes kick me out of their lobbies for not returning to the pits when they want to start the race, truth be told I have had the black screen more times when I'm in the pits then out on the track, really it doesn't matter if you are in the pits or on the track, it will happen. So far I have counted 20 black screens while pitted, 12 while out on the track. It gets annoying when you run into them back to back, so far that streak in at 6. You cannot drive when you can't see.

I haven't ran into any sound bugs yet.

There's a similar-ish glitch i encounter rarely where if someone enters or leaves the room as the race countdown jingle begins, it will keep on looping until the race is over or i quit.

I'm not necessarily complaining about this since it's fortunately not the worst jingle in the world, but for longer races it may kill the mood.
