Anyone care to wait 6 years for GT6? And be hugely disappointed when it comes?
Or would you like to see a new game every 1-2 years with 50-100 NEW cars and 10-15 tracks?
Something like a new GT5 prologue every year:tup:
I know PD tried to make an epic game that would be the greatest ever but they have failed miserably and no update/patches/"we know we ****ed up"-bonus races can ever make that right.
Would you like to see a new GT every year featuring the newest cars and a couple of classics(the new game could have been released in 2007 if you look at the model-cars in there, with a FEW exceptions)
Taking 6 years to develop, the things you did the first year is going to be hopelessly outdated come release time:idea:

I would hate for this franchise to go the same way as the Guitar Hero franchise.

It wont be another 6 years, I think 2.

Take a look at the pattern of the previous games:

GT1 - 170 cars, was good
GT2 - 600+ cars, was awesome

GT3 - 200 cars, was good
GT4 - 700+ cars, was extremely awesome

GT5 - 200 premium cars (1000+ if you count all of them), is good
GT6 - will be many more cars, will be unbelieveably awesome :)

I doubt it will be another six years until we see GT6. That said, this theory is based on the assumption that GT6 will still be on the PS3. And if so, at what point will they abandon working on GT5 and start to do GT6? Or will they keep on upgrading and improving GT5 through online updates and then make it GT6 with one last big update?

I'd imagine they will keep working on GT5 right until GT6 is released.

I don't think they have the capacities for doing both things at the same time.

My point was: would you like to wait a long time for a large game that comes off half-assed, or, would you like a smaller game with fewer cars (brand new models) released every year, wich stays true to the GT concept we all know and love?

Kaz has already said that they are capable of releasing GT6 in 2-3 years now that they have it all set up for PS3, he also said that the PS3 isn't actually powerful enough for GT5, so don't expect to see a GT6 before the PS4 in 2013/14

I guess the question is whether it would be more profitable for PD to continue development of GT5 or develop a completely new game. If a new PS platform emerges, which will probably happen simply because of improvements in technology, will PD make it backwards compatible? If it's not, then people will be miffed that they won't be able to use all the cars and credits that they had collected over the years, and GT6 won't be perfect for everyone. I think the only way the GT5 franchise will last is if PD can continue to collect profits from it. Already we can see people spending real money on cars and gift cards. Maybe that could take the form of paid downloadable content. That would give PD incentive to continue to develop GT5. I think that the majority of people who are going to buy GT5 have done so already. and many of them are 95% through the game. Another alternative would be to open up the game similarly to the way some flight simulators have done.

They go based on max profit with minimal work. All companies do this, usually they end up working fairly hard to make their money.

GT5 sells most of their copies before players have had time to bitch....

Teh game needs some kind of "kick" rather than the same old races and trophies. The special events in this edition were the best, it needs to be more focused on driver skill than "grinding." Nobody cares about grinding, especially when the competition AI is lifeless and superficial; almost like moving objects rather than computer opponents.

In a game like F1 2010, grinding career mode isnt so bad because the races feel fulfilling and complete. This game is lifeless and sterile. There needs to be some really hard, intense championship racing with good AI. And the reward is $5,000,000 and a Ferrari F1 that you can take to any race. That'd be a selling point IMO.

That is crazy, I never noticed that pattern. lol

just take a less powerfull car than the AI and you'll have your self a race.

I hope GT keeps going it's own way without looking at the money grabbers such as EA:yuck:

I suspect at least a two year wait for GT6 and I'm fine with it.
I would be still playing GT5 by then:tup:

Forget just this game, the PS3 was like McCain running against Obama...doomed to failure. It all started out with the $800 or something price tag and a pointlessly complicated architecture.

I would love to see a 2 year development cycle, I think it would force PD to focus instead of being ADD.

If a studio like IW can pump put phenomenal games every 2 years, why not PD? And don't give me the "they are perfectionists" nonsense. This game is not even complete.

Also we all know what Kaz's definition of "2-3" years is...I think the open ended, no deadline development model is bound to fail as clearly demonstrated by this game.

5 million in sales in 10 weeks is not bad either but I think it is pretty weak for THE only game Sony has that may break 10+ mil.

Good question by the way.

If phenomenal=popular then GT5 is phenomenal too. Otherwise this argument does not hold water. By IW you mean Infinity Ward right?

if it's missing some key factors that gt5 was missing, and another thing they falsely advertised on the premium cars, all dials and gauges Another first for the series will be the inclusion of an in-car view, replete with accurate representations of each vehicle's steering wheel, dashboard, instrumentation and more. This what we were told was coming in premium cars so why does my audi read 134,728 kms when it's only done 2,034 and why in my mazda does the petrol gauge not move. They got my hopes up then crushed them the main reason i got gt5 was for the odometer i know it sounds lame but thats the reason, unless gt6 makes it clear that it will have it i will stick to the test drive series

The GT "Concept" Is car collection. A smaller game with fewer cars kind of destroys the point of car collection.

They now have a basis to build GT6 upon. I d love to see GT6 in 2-3 years as the PS3s triumphant swansong.

Technically they need to fix very little things in the engine: Shadows, AI, implement damage level of racing cars to all premium cars, refine the effects, thats it. The driving is perfect. So they need some manpower to make the engine more effective so that these things can be improved. But 3 years should be enough for that.

Design-wise its a bit different. They need to up the number of premium cars, bring all the tracks they just upscaled from GT4 to PS3-worthy level of detailing, surrounding etc.
And they need to change the complete expierience of the game. More challenging and interesting races and career, both a- and b-spec. Redesignt the whole interface.

Another thing is the big question if Sony would want GT6 to be the PS3s last big title or the first big one on the PS4. I suspect the latter.

For a game as great as Gran Turismo i can wait 6 years...

Indeed.

The only thing I'm missing is more events/better events. Who wants to drive around a race track wih a Toyota Vitz?
And I like the Bonus Races, even though they are becoming too simple with no tuning restrictions.

People complaining about the length of the game can just go get a life. Collecting all the cars, level up to 40 and get 100% completion takes 20 times longer on this game than any other console I can come up with.

Wow slow down mate, its a bit early to be talking about gt6, but I will reply to your post since you asked the question, I think it will be in about 2 years as it will probably based on the gt5 engine, I think gt6 will be what gt5 should have been, unless they wait until ps4 that is

I'd imagine they will keep working on GT5 right until GT6 is released.

I think this too, to a degree. With other racing titles being released after GT5, they will be right on GT's heels until a new GT rolls out.

I don't think they have the capacities for doing both things at the same time.

Sad up true. If they gave us what they did on Nov 24th and it took 5 years to get that, their hands are full. But the plus side to it, is that in today's time and age, everything is high res from here on out. Once these models done, they can import those and loose very minimal in quality for future release.

Why would anyone wish for a new product if the one they already have can get (and is being) improved monthly with patches. Do you want PD to completely disregard the game they have been working on these last years and just start making a new one for the the same platform? Sounds silly if you ask me.

I hope they add a better course maker and make all the cars premium even if it is only 500

I think the PS4 will be released in a matter of years. 2.5-4 maybe, and that GT6 will be the launch title.

It is a tricky business with GT6. Releasing it on the PS3 makes a lot of sense, because they have a good functioning basis with GT5. If they keep updating GT5 as they say however, what are they going to put into GT6 that makes it so attractive that people are going to buy it?

Should GT6 be a few years down the road and be planned for the PS4, they might need to start from scratch again.

Kaz has mentioned a 3 year future of the unkown as to whether GT6 will be PS3 or PS4, but from that you can take a GT6 might appear in about 3 years, from 2010. If there was a PS4 in 2013 though i thought we might have heard more leaked information about it's development.
Personally I think Kaz would rather it was for the PS4 what with GT5 being 'spoiled' by being run on a system not powerful enough to play as best as possible. The game is ready and waiting for another new powerful console.

I hope Sony will force Kaz to release GT6 on PS3. Would've been insane to spend 5+ years and 60m$++ to develop graphics/physics engine and all those premium models just to throw them away after 1 game, because if PS4 will be a huge jump forward (graphics/physics wise) like PS2 to PS3 was, then those "awesome premium models" will look there, as some of standard cars looking now in GT5.
So he'll need new "premium" models, he will also want to develop a new physics of course, then release another Prologue etc. I'm tired of those 6 years for 1 game waiting, if it'll be like that, then we won't see even GT10, since he will be too old to make any games. -.-
Just kiddin' tho, but it's still not right, 3 - 4 games for a game is ok, nearly 6 is not.
