I wonder who originally filmed it off their screen (side note: quite annoying to discover you can't just capture video of the PS5 desktop), as this guy never credits anyone.
Annoying indeed, yup.

Yep, we said that in the article.
My fault, the post has been edited. Thanks for the heads up.

Probably not covered in the trailer, but do we expect any new circuits/layouts to gain support for GT Sophy this update? I am always interested in more sports cars and circuits but I was never interested in the Sophy updates until they added the custom race option.

So...
812 Superfast: Well, nice I guess. Another one from the datamine scratched off.
C5 Corvette: All 'Vettes are now in-game, which is a nice touch. Definitely would try this out for the Tokyo 600 race.
CR-V: Oh boy, Twitter's going to have a meltdown about this (plus that one guy who kept whining about 'mOm cAr'), and I'm all in for it. Would love to see how much power we could get into it (though it is a hybrid, and considering how GT treats hybrids I won't be surprised)
Carry: Best. Thing. Ever. Forget GT3s, kei truck racing is where it's at.

Though no track is still a bummer.

Don't forget Sophy!
Maybe rain... or an improvement, I can't wait to find out more about that.

That won't be revealed until the blog post on Wednesday, but the last several updates have each added two track layouts for Sophy support so you can probably expect two more.

There's not many (sensible) locations left without it: Alsace, Autopolis, Barcelona, Eiger, Fuji, Goodwood, High Speed Ring, Kyoto, St. Croix, Watkins Glen, Willow Springs, and maybe the non-oval courses at Daytona/Blue Moon.

Thanks. Yeah Daytona road course, WG, and Fuji are the notable ones missing for me.

I own that model CRV so this is an update I’m excited about.
This post - and some similar comments over the past few updates on our socials - is a good example of a thing that a lot of people don't quite get about Gran Turismo still, somehow.

Driving your own car is just as much a part of it as driving something aspirational, or a status symbol, or some racing cars. It's why we're getting some common CUVs, as they're increasingly becoming cars that people actually drive.

Yeah it's a good list. Hopefully the C5 gets C5R parts, they've been knocking the customisation out the park recently so it's not a far off hope.
If it does, hopefully it includes pop-up delete for the headlights along with the front bumper mounted high-beams.

Extremely elated for the forthcoming Kei truck! Not the legend, but a 49hp workhorse that'll be great fun at Tsukuba and everywhere else. Hopefully the Café-menu obsession with cars in sets of three means we'll see more little trucks or vans.

Very happy for the C5, but for the purposes of joining in whinging to complete the encyclopaedic set as it should be, my next target is also the C6 Z06 (then C4 Grand Sport, C8 variants and and so on until you get to the worst late-model C3s), though really it's all the other Chevys that are underrepresented now, especially ute-shaped ones with big blocks and two-speed autos.

While that’s absolutely true, it is equally true that these cars are completely and entirely irrelevant or uninteresting to a large part of the racing game fan base. Gran Turismo is unique in that it takes the “gamble” on adding these cars and doesn’t care about the press that follows. That’s why we love PD I suppose.

I want a Buick GNX so bad. Please!
This beauty Too  :D  🙏

Where's my Audi tho, lol.

Potentially true - but it's also the case for pretty much any vehicle as there's almost nothing that players can agree on.

Take BTCC as an example. I can think of a lot of people who'd love a BTCC car or two or three or all of them (Alan Gow not being among them), but I can also think of a lot of people who'd dismiss them off the bat as FWD scrabblewagons based on boring repmobiles. Or NASCAR Sprint Cup cars, which would please many people but meet with just as much resistance as overpowered identikit boxes made for going left* - and if more than one was added they'd be "dupes", and if one from each brand was added it'd be the wrong team.

I've got no great desire to have the new M4 GT3 added - it'd be just the same as the other BMW GT3s to drive in bumper cam, and either meta or nowhere under BOP - but others are pretty rigid about it. I'd like to see DeltaWing back (won't happen; Don Panoz wants almost as much money for licensing as Silverstone does), while I'm sure others would be "ugh, returning car, what's the point it was crap anyway".

I'd rather GT continued to beat its own path, however many weird and/or mundane cars we get.

*And yes, I know about the existence of street circuits on the calendar, but that's NASCAR's image; also they were in GT5 and nasty as all hell to drive on actual courses, even with my Spa tune

In terms of events:
  • The 812 is obviously Ferrari Circuit Challenge.
  • The Carry is a kei car so is likely to be Lightweight K-Cup, although they could decide to just make it Sunday Cup if they can't/don't want to tune a Carry to 400PP.
  • The Corvette is likely American Sunday Cup 700, although there's an outside shot at a Corvette-specific new Bonus Book if PD are feeling nice...
  • The CR-V is awkward to place. It's far too fast for the Sunday Cup, but the next level up for Japanese 4WD cars is either the JP Clubman Cup 550 or the JP 4WD Challenge 600, both of which would have it going against Imprezas and Evos and Skyline GT-Rs. Maybe they tune one up for one of those two events? Not sure.

I wonder what sort of swaps the kei truck and the C5 Corvette could end up getting? I’d imagine a comparatively modest engine like from the Swift Sport would go into the Carry, though a K20 going into another kei vehicle would not be unprecedented, either.

I’m overall real glad to see this quartet, as I think it encompasses some incredibly popular vehicles. Even here in CT, I do occasionally see kei trucks - albeit older ones. (I bet that Carry will get some very interesting options in GT Auto.) Meanwhile, the Honda CRV is arguably one of the most common Honda models I see on the road besides various Civics and Accords. The addition of the C5 Corvette is splendid, too, and an additional Ferrari model is always welcome. (Heck, I’d even be more than fine if they added the Mondial!)

It's only been a short period of time since the HiMedic was dropped and many thought that would be the weirdest vehicle to be put in the game.

Now since the beginning of the year it's now fighting for that title with the additions of the Unimog, Kangoo and now a Carry to pick up the Midget's legacy.

A Ford Transit appearing seems like a good bet to take.

I'm a little disappointed. Now that the Motorsport Games nonsense is behind us, I was hoping for Indy this month. Now that the weird bulbous bit from the F1 road course has been replaced with an ultra-fast chicane, it's really grown on me.

I was listening to an interview of the folks for the upcoming Project Motor Racing title, their Audi liaison made an interesting comment that MIGHT shed light on the lack of newer GR3/competition vehicles in GT7.

The Audi liaison mentioned that manufacturers are reluctant to share details on the EXACT dimensions of their vehicles that are still actively competing. We all know how detail oriented/anal-retentive PD is about their car modeling. The comment made wonder if PD is reluctant to add newer race cars because they'd have to be modeled less accurately.
