Project Cars was able to add a large variety of categories, so why can't Gran Turismo? It's not "confusing"
Yes they have, but in the context of what's being discussed (BOP) they haven't achieved much at all. There's pretty well one dominant car in every group, so if you race in an online lobby and want to win you have to use that dominant car. You also have the wildly uncompetitive car in the group. It's the same problem the GT series has.

Also, in PCars 3 they have oddball groupings (eg. Road E group: 1966 Mustang and 1971 Ford Escort, up against, 1999 Skyline, 2019 Audi TTS Coupe, or even the 2020 350Z if you have the DLC) that even when using their system to balance the cars out they're not really close to balanced at all. Again, the same problem the GT series has.

Then there's the classes with only one or two cars.... the same problem GT is trying to avoid.

I'm seeing a pattern here, and it's not one that's uncommon across games with so many varied cars. As has been mentioned, the only way is to give us as many tools as they can in open lobbies so we can even out our own groups of cars.

New Toyota 86 revealed. Add this to the list of possible cover cars I guess.

That, and to have both campaign and online events that incentives the use of as many vehicles as possible, like those GT Sport daily races that only permitted the Group C racers within Gr.1.

Bad news

'PS5, Xbox Series X Component Shortages To Last Until Mid-2022 Or Later'

lmao god I HATED that in GT6. Hopefully we won't have to worry about that happening again, with the Used Car Dealer returning.
I love the fact that this "new" gen is a complete failure in every way. No games, components, no consoles (which brings to no marketing strategies) and, for now, no impressive graphical improvement despite the hardware specs.
Can't deny covid's fault though

Why would you need any of that when the consoles are selling themselves? Hardly a failure in any way. No games? Still sold out. You don't even need to advertise anything other than future games coming out. Supply and Demand is the best marketing strategy they've got. No improvements other than hardware? Still sold out. I'm confused how this is a failure in your eyes, other than you're still trying to buy one.

Personally, I don't plan to get a PS5 until the next Battlefield comes out this fall, and that's at the earliest - and also assuming "Battlefield 6" turns out to be as good as I think it'll be. If the rumors of a "Switch Pro" are true, then I might get that before a PS5, especially considering I've been waiting to get a Switch ever since I caught wind of those rumors of an upgraded version.

The new gen launch as a whole, is a failure. And on both sides. What are playing those few people who got the consoles? Spiderman? What else? Current gen games and posting DS5 impressions using it with ps4 games.
Yeah no poop they're sold out. There aren't any around.
Graphics? Nothing to do with the minblowing PS4 games presentation. Think about the graphical gap between ps1->ps2, ps2->ps3, ps3->ps4. It got smaller with time but what we got between ps4 and ps5 is not what people expected and it's underwhelming. But people will still blindly buy new products just because they're new. (think fifa)

This was a really long way of saying you’re angry you don’t have a PS5 yet

You made me smile because assume too much. My message was clear: there aren't any relevant games to play and graphics are underwhelming for now.
Why would I want to have it, again? GT7 is the only reason why I would buy a ps5.
Someday in the future.
When it will be available.
And not overpriced.
And not white.

But nice try diminishing a point of view that doesn't fit yours.

It's not just because they're new. I bought the PS5 at release and when I did it replaced my release day base PS4 so the jump for me, and many like me is very significant, even in these early stages of PS5 games development. The gap in graphics was always going to narrow but when you look back to the start of the PS4 era with the base PS4, and then compare the graphics to the PS5, the jump is much more significant and is more comparable to other console generations.

There's also plenty of other PS5 games to play (No GT doesn't mean no games ;)). I'm currently playing Dirt 5 PS5 version that utilises the haptics and there's a free game, that basically amounts to a tech demo of the DS5's capabilities, so it's easier for people who have experienced the DS5 to forecast it's potential over the full console generation. Backwards compatibility with the PS4 and a heap of free games is also a great incentive.

Why did you edit this post after my post above?

It previously said ''My message was clear: there aren't any games to play and graphics are underwhelming.'' But with a quick little tweak you've changed the meaning. It's amazing how adding ''relevant'' and ''for now'' can change a statement.

Is it possible your message wasn't clear? ;)

Also, apologies to the mods for the double post but I wanted to keep the time stamps in their original form.

If your message was clear why is your post edited and why am I looking at a different message to what I saw an hour ago dude

His message did change a lot in meaning from the original to the edit and I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed. While I can't be sure of @hardvibes motivation for the changes I do find it a bit odd that rather than address my post directly he chose to modify his own in such a way as to lessen a couple of my points in relation to his stance.

We all edit messages dude, you did it too with yours.
I edit more than often my messages because I'm a bit of a perfectionist.

Nah the meaning is the same, and I don't quote everybody, especially when I'm tired and ready to go to sleep.
The points are the same, my thoughts are exactly the same. I just proceeded to specify a few things. Like I said I'm a bit of a perfectionist. There aren't any games to play. What, you think dirt 5 ps5 is relevant? Ok, your opinion.
Graphics are underwhelming, and of course they are underwhelming for the moment. One can only hope for the future. They aren't underwhelming for you? Ok, your opinion.
And I still think this new gen launch is a complete failure. So how's that for editing...
That's all I have to say about that. Then if you want to argue just for the sake of arguing please do so. I won't be part of it cause I have more important things to do.

No games is far from the same as relevant games and underwhelming is not the same as underwhelming for now. Edit: Especially in the context of what I had written, and what games you deem relevant is subjective, as is underwhelming. Your opinion of these things doesn't change the fact that these next gen consoles are all sold out and the next incoming batches where I live are pre-sold as well. If there was a pile of them still sitting on the shelves then I'd agree with you.
