This is a thread to review the development of Gran Turismo up to Gran Turismo 6 we will be reviewing all of the things that we either dislike or like about the game. I will be keeping track of things in the list below.

Like:👍
  • being able to compete online with people from around the world
  • Time change on historic tracks like 'the ring' and la sarthe
Dislike:👎
  • AI offline are not challenging and generally clueless to surroundings
  • Car sounds do not sound real
indifferent::indiff:

  • online racing has potential but there is a lot of room for improvement

Thank you for your input but, could you be a little more specific? What do you like about online racing?

Do you race online? Do you not realize how fun it actually is?

YOU GOTTA TELL'M, RACING ONLINE IS PEOPLE!

so is soilent green

I do race online and speaking from experience it depends on the people your racing. I was just looking for something more like "being able to compete with others around the world in online racing". Dig down in the deep depths of your brain and pull out those English lesson you learned back in grade school. The one's about righting in complete sentences. just messin with ya 👍

as for the photo quality I think its a bigger part of the game then you may think. I mean would you really want to still be playing games with the picture quality of Space Invaders?

He's not talking about photos, he's talking about the quality of car models and saying he's indifferent to all the detail contained in premiums. Probably means happy with standards as well.

Not sure how long this thread will last if it just turns into another whinge-fest. Since the OP talks about tracking the development, I think people should put what they like/dislike that has been added/evolved/removed from the series.

Just a suggestion, not wishing to take over. That's all I have to say for now... my opinions on GT as a series, through each of its iterations would likely take me quite sometime to complete!

  • offline isn't challenging in any way because of completely inept AI

Online racing has great potential but could be improved dramatically

The graphics in Space Invaders were fine, it was the physics that sucked. Instead of using triangle wave type physics to control the speed of the invaders, and their instant directional change, they should have used sine wave type physics, so it would more realisticly slow to a stop and then accelerate out of the direction change.

I have taken maybe five pictures in all of GT.
I don’t care about the interiors because I drive using the bumper cam. I need a functional rear view mirror.
I am not happy with all of the standard cars, many of them look like crap, even from a distance.

I do, however feel that this level of detail is a huge waste of time. Time that could be spent upgrading the crappy looking standards.

👍: Cruising the 'ring or La Sarthe in time change mode, using a stock premium, cockpit view & HUD off.

👎: Car sounds - 'nuff said.

:indiff:: The graphics of some tracks.

I played little bit of GT4 only which was my first GT game. GT5 and GT6 I have played a lot.

Lots of different cars and great track variety. They make best fictional tracks. I hope they can redo them for GT7 on PS4. Gameplay and gfx wise they are probably the best in the business.

Things they need to improve is proper damage option, sound affects.

Actually I haven't really needed it the people who have been replying to the thread have been good at giving opinions that contribute to the thread or provide a constructive contrasting opinion towards others.

Realised I wasn't being constructive,

Likes:

the driving/physics

Car list- including standards

Track list- it's actually massive

The audience the game attracts which is generally speaking quite mature and full of car knowledge

Photo mode and replays- sometimes I just get lost in the realism it shows, very impressive

Graphics- does exclude some standards which are eyesores

Weather and time effects- sunset at any track particularly the ring and Matterhorn are a must see

Dislikes:

Lack of customisation, tis improving but a passion for cars is often followed by a passion to personalise/customise and could be a lot deeper (livery editor)

Sounds of 4 bangers, some are truly baffling how bad they are

AI, AI and AI- example NASCAR events which turned me into the Incredible Hulk (doesn't effect me as much as others as I drive more than I race)

The exclusion of cars from previous titles of the series- this actually really pissed me off, if you're gonna include standards which is fine, why take them out? Am I missing something? Miss my FPV's And Jensen interceptor...

Rolling starts for everything offline

hats what I was going for people can tell what they like/dislike about any aspect of the game.

I see where u are coming from PD could have spent that time on making the physics better and I think the graphics issue may vary from people who drive from different cameras
