I am very happy for Igor. That said, he had a lot more to prove in F3. He was quick, spanking his teammates in a team that was letting him down on track.

It's a shame he got booted out of F3 because money/politics.

He is a real talent and I wish him the best. It's an honor to have him among the racers who have achieved success through Gran Turismo.

Watching him beat Liam Lawson in New Zealand was sublime. But such is the cruelty of racing. You beat someone but go nowhere because of lack of $$$.

No real politics involved, he just ran out of money plain and simple.

It's the stink part of motorsport, you need to have a business side that's as good or better than your actual racing skill set.

There's a guy over here in NZ called Daynom Templeman, and those in the know remember that he used to be hailed as one of the great up and comers, he raced against Scott Dixon in the development classes and had some legendary battles, but just didn't have the financial backing behind him and he unfortunately had to stop pursuing the dream.

For every driver on the current F1 grid, there's surely many more who could do the same if they just had the money.

Not really.

He was all set to race for Hitech in the final round of the F3 season, after enduring the godawful Charouz car all season, but despite being all paid up and Hitech announcing him as driving he was then blocked by Charouz from driving - claiming some kind of contract issue. Both Hitech and Charouz ran the final round one driver short as a result.

Red Bull stopped funding him after that - they paid for a race he didn't do (which wasn't his fault, but it was still a race they got zero return on), and across the season he got one point (which overperformed the car, but it was still just one point) - so it's pretty easy to draw the conclusion he was screwed over by politics.

Such a shame. I met Igor at the final race in NZ where he won the Toyota racing series from over Lawson. He was humble before the race and signed posters etc. I told him he’s making every GT player proud. A bit of a silly thing to say to such a talent but he replied with a smile and a thank you. Im sure good things will Happen for him. Perhaps this new role leads to a fulfilling future elsewhere outside the circus that is top tier real racing.
