Gran Turismo: Forever King?

IMHO, GTR, although FIA GT only, has some great looking features. I've played a demo of it too. The cars are incredibly detailed. From sound to interior, to handling. To tell the truth, it took me about 30 minutes to get used to driving the Lister Storm. IT sounds incredibly nice and the 56 cars racing sounds even better. Reviewers have said that having the AI drive, and watching the race is amazing. It can sound like you're really at the track. I'll be getting downloads as well.

AS for me, GT4, Forza, and GTR are on my buy list. I don't care, because as long as I like it and its something I like to do (racing of course) then I'll buy it. 👍
 
Honestly, for me, there won't be any time to play Forza if I were to purchase it.

Ratchet and Clank : Up Your Arsenal (PS2) on Tues. Nov. 2
Halo 2 (XBox, duh) on the 9th
Metal Gear Solid 3 : Snake-Eater (PS2, duh) on the 16th

Gran Turismo 4 on December 14th

See, I'm gonna be backed up for months!

note : GameInformer magazine gave R&C:UYA a perfect score of 10 in the Nov04 issue and the review leads me to believe it may be the BEST VIDEO GAME EVER!
(except for GT4, of course...hehehe)
 
DevilGtx, you somehow forgot Half life 2 in that last, which should be the best game ever made. Ever. :D
 
I like GT is that because, even for beginners it pretty easy to play with it, and it stood the test of time and experience. And last but not the least, the cars!!


Since I don't have a PC, and an XBox.

I'll get Enthusia, and GT4, the one from Konami looks pretty promising.
 
Devil, GTA:SA comes out 2 weeks from now. IT was pushed back a week.

Far Cry, Far Cry 2...those should be awesome (supposedly for XBox AND PS2)
Doom 3 for XBox (date?) or
Doom 3 enhanced version for PS2 (date? if it's true)

Anybody played Silent Hill 4 yet?
 
Ratchet and Clank...
I have never been too fond of platformers in general,
but I wish all games could be of the quality and perfection that is Ratchet and Clank.
I can't believe they are actually improving over Going Commando...it was perfect!

R&C:GC was the "funnest" game I've played in years.
Except for GT4, I look forward to Up Your Arsenal the most.
 
this is a dumb question, of course gran turismo wont always be king. I mean people were thinking ridge racer would always be king, or even pong, look at those fools now.

Yes, that can be true. But, I don't think it will be.

Sony have a man in charge of PD who is a big lover of motorsports. I think Sony will always have a man like that in place at PD. Also, I think Sony and PD will always strive to make the GT series the best it can be. There are tons of interesting, and different ways that PD can make GT a fresh and new game. Let's all hope PD and Sony don't get to full of themselves and stop paying attention to their fan base, and stop including fresh and new ideas.

True, other game companies are now going after PD with their own GT style racing games, but I think PD will always be on top. I think the other companies will be forced to make different GT syle racing games, because PD is the master of what they do. But, these differences can be what a lot of people are looking for in a racing game.

Sony have a man in charge of PD who is a big lover of motorsports. I think Sony will always have a man like that in place at PD. this may all be true, however, to use the phrase "forever king" apply to much longer than i think PD or even sony will be in place. Videos games will likely be rocked by some new technology and maybe sony will pull a sega and just make games. Slowly faded out or selling out. By then gt will have built a great name any they will outsource the fanbase and completely sell out, stepping down as king. This is completely made up and i dont think it will go down like that, it is just FOREVER is a hella long time. Be careful where your fan boy minds go.

They often become partners with whomever has something great and new to offer. They did with the transistor radios, they did it with recordable audio/video tape, they did it with digital technology (Philips) and they're doing it with the Cell chip and Blu-ray HD players and recorders. And, they will keep doing what they've been doing in the video game industry, too.

Trust me, Sony aren't going down at all. They will always be at the top. Think of who can topple them. It's nobody. Even if MS beats them with software sales, Sony will beat them with hardware sales. What devices will MS run on? Better believe Sony had something to do with it. Sony will never let the software titles dry up to a point were MS would beat them. Sony would buy, or start from scratch, game companies that would make them hit software titles. Granted, 989 Studios haven't been doing much for them, but they are nothing but a money making rehasher for Sony. And horrible as they might be, they still turn a nice profit for Sony.

did you see the blueprints for the PS3 in the latest OPM (u.s.)?

I'm not one to get all giddy about prototypes and rumours, but it's one snazzy piece of equipment. I don't know if it's official, but it should be.
 
Up till now, yes! GT is still the King. But then I'm not sure about the next one as many other game company is having their own driving simulator and they're really getting serious about it. For example, Enthusia Professional Racing looks promising to me. Konami seems to have a pretty good physics engine going on... Yet, GT is still the King at the moment.

Ever heard of the saying in sports that "records are meant to be broken." If you ask me, GT is king. But even if a game is ultimately better than GT, like if it can be Oklahoma beating Texas A&M 77-0 last year (damn shame), I think GT already asserted itself as a legend. It takes time to be a legend, and GT is only going to be as impressive as the next. So I think it's king, but I think more that it's a legend. I mean, it HAS to be. It's pretty much in the Hall of Fame with Pole Position and Ridge Racer Classic and stuff in terms of racing games.

King? Yes. Legend? Hell yes. Unstoppable (as of 10/12/2004)? You damn right! Can it be beaten? Maybe. No one's really pulled it out yet. It can't be king forever, but I see it more as a modern-day legend.

Yes, and something I read kind of scared me. I love the idea of the new PS machine being a Blu-ray device (BD), but I hope it will aslo play BD movies. I read how they said they didn't want to turn the new PS3 into a "DVD" player. I hope they meant the DVD format, and not a movie media playing device.

It that were true, I probably wont buy one until there was a lot of games to warrant its purchase. But, considering how horrible video games seem to be these days, I doubt I will buy one if it wont play BD movies
 
GT is still an excellent all-round package, yes, but unbeatable in every aspect? Nope. For absolute realism, check GTR (be it the old mod version or the new so-far demo) or Nascar Racing 2003. Yes, a Nascar game has superior simulation abilities.

Kaz a "motorsports enthusiast"? That's a bit of a stretch, I'd think. Six cars on a track with laughable AI? He's a driving enthusiast, I wouldn't doubt it, but motorsports is more than playing follow the leader with a pack of mindless opponents.

It undoubtedly changed console gaming, and will go down as doing so. But unbeatable? It *already* has quite a few flaws in its armor. Fortunately, the story's the same for any challenger thus far.

The GT series ATM is the one on the throne, but it's in evolutions nature that nothing can rule indefinitely...

It depends on the people who play it. GT is a perfect game for those who like it as it is, but if you want damage or other things GT doesn't have then it's not the best for you.

I think we've already established that GT will always be king Crimson.... :sly: unless you own a frippin' Xbox or something... either way, there's probably no need to belew it from the rooftops...
