Hey everyone,

I have been away for medical reasons and unable to play my GT5. So when I got back home from all this mumbo jumbo, my PS3 YLOD with my GT5 in the PS3. So I've managed to get my PS3 replaced but now I can't move data from the old one. I'm assuming that all my saves are gone?

I do have a backup from a previous time, but I've tried to restore it and it doesn't recognise it. Does anyone know if I have any recourse? It makes me so mad that I can't extract my games from the hard drive.

Do you still have your old PS3?

If you do there is still a very slim chance you can recover your save. Just google PS3 YLOD hair dryer trick. It doesn't always work, but if it does it will give you time to back up your save to USB.

Then as long as your PS3 user name AND PSN id are identical to the ones that made the save, you will be able to copy it back across.

You have to use the data transfer utility (assuming you're talking about system back up files) under settings on the PS3. This will let you transfer you back up you made over to the new system. You also need to make sure you make the exact same user on the new PS3 to use the old save file.

I would advise against the hair dryer fix, that causes more damage than good. There are too many plastic parts inside that can melt and malfunction.
