for some reason if i start up the game while signed into the playstation network the game will sit forever at the gran turismo 5 logo and then say can not connect to the network or something like that. then it will go to the menu with no cursor or anything and just sit their. you cant do anything accept hit the ps button. but as soon as i sign out of the playstation network it works perfectly. but then i cant play online. I is really making me mad. i want to play online.

does anybody els have this problem or know how to fix it??

I don't usually get this problem often, and when I do, I can usually play online again after exiting GT mode and then re-entering it, after signing back into PSN.

if i exit gt mode while i am signed in it just has no cursor or anything. until i sign out of psn. if i go into gt mode then sign in and try to play online it says i am not connected.

when i started the game for the first time, i had the same problem.
Actually gt5 tries to connect to servers 3 times (gt logo, mode selection, gt mode), this can take about 5 minutes per effort.
i couldn't connect to gt servers because of my router settings (i had put PS3 into dmz because i had troubles in fifa11, so it had a fixed ip. Switching back to dhcp solved the gt5 problem for me, but don't ask me why)

Do you even have an Ethernet cable connected directly between your PS3 and your cable/DSL? And it's still doing that?! Never trust PS3's Wi-Fi because I learned that the hard way back in 5 Prologue.

Are you using an origingal PS3 (phat one) if so they seem to have this problem for some reason mine does it alot so i bought a slim and it does not do it now.

Thats because the games connecting to the game sever. I hate that some times i have to wait up to 30 minutes to play online. Some days I don't even sign in if Im going to grind for money.

My fat PS3 does this. It sometimes states that a connection to the server was not made but you can just ignore this message. Even with the internet running in super mode i still have this. Not really a big problem unless you're an impatient bastard. :D

I dont think you understand. it says the connection was not made and then it sits there with no cursor. and you cant do anything. period. and then after another 5 minutes it will say it cant connect again and again. meanwhile your sitting there going wtf. so the only way you can play is by signing out of psn. but you cant race online unless your signed into psn.

I had this same problem, there is an thread here but try this: Check your router and write down your DNS IP addresses. The go to your PS3 and check the settings there (use Custom setup, not Easy setup). Make sure your PS3 is not using it's own IP address as one of the DNS addresses. Make sure both DNS addresses on the PS3 are set to the same addresses as the ones in your router.

Here is the link to the thread I saw:

Use your ISP's DHCP, that solved the problem for me. I used Google, that work really well for any game that wasn't Gran Turismo (SF4, Red Dead Revolver, GTA4 and some others).

On Gran Turismo, I had the same connection problems. I tried to use my ISP's DHCP and the problem was solved.
