I'm a little worried about the fuel weight effects myself, since all of my practice for this round has been in Free Practice where it is disabled
(Dunno if it helped me!)... I did FP sessions lastnight on IM, figured it would kinda simulate a weight offset. Had an odd observation though, tyres seemed to go off after 3 laps even though I didn't think tyre wear is on for FP (don't have any telemetry logging for tyres)

Probably overheated them. Tire wear is disable in Free Practice, but tire temperatures still change. Once the IM tires get too hot, they lose a lot of grip.

A pleasant end to the season...

GT2 - North America - 12 PM EDT - White livery - 249 points available (top split!) - Door #8 - Q3 (2:20.083)

I was well off my best time in qualifying, but I still managed to land in Q3. I'll take it.

The polesitter got off to a terrible start, and despite only remembering to switch to second gear after the car started rolling, I was easily by them before we hit turn 1. Up to P2.

And that's where I spent pretty much all of the race. The door #5 car tried a dive inside at turn 1 on lap 2 (pictured above), but ended up running off the end of the track in the attempt, so I held my position.

I managed to keep up with the leader for a few laps and even got in striking distance a couple times, but I had a lap full of mistakes mid-way through the race, which put the lead out of reach, and brought the #5 car behind me within a second.

By the final lap, the #5 car was right on my bumper, but I managed to defend to the end for a P2 finish. That's 243 points, a huge improvement over my 189 score at Trial Mountain.

I was also promoted to DR A, which because of the promotion bonus leaves me at 11.5%. No doubt that will quickly be reversed once I do a few Daily Races in the Genesis car, my pick for the next season of Manufacturers Cup.

I'm looking forward to how the standings come out after this final round. I was sitting in 7th in North America (GT2 league) before today's race. I'm hoping today's result will improve that. We'll see.

Frustrating slot 3 in GT2 North America.

Q5 to P10 after being pushed to pass off the track in the esses on lap 1 and then completely spun around and off the track at 130R on lap 2 and down to last place.

Will probably go again as I feel I have a top 5 in me in this one.

Had absolutely no idea how to drive this thing - went in with zero practice and ended up qualifying P12 with a 2:20.1 and was 14th by the end of lap 1.
Figured it out as the race went on, climbed to 6th but wanted to go again as I thought I had a podium in me. Fortunately didn't need to as 3 of the top 5 crashed at 130R on the last lap, and promoted me to 3rd.. 206 points well earned!!

There must not have been many entrants in GT2 slot 4 North America.

I am very mid-B and ended up in a lobby with 2 A/S drivers and 226 points for the win. So win, lose or draw, this would be by highest point tally of the season as my lobbies are generally 100 to 125 points.

Anyhoo this race didn't go much better than my first attempt and I went Q9 to P10 after even more pushes off track and generally anything goes, rubbing is racing which doesn't work for the recipient on this track.

170 something points at the end so I'll have to just bank that.

I think I've lost DR in every race this season. I've lost my mojo I suppose.

It is a thing in GT7. In most races, it isn't an issue, but we've had some GTWS rounds -- I'm thinking of a Gr.3 one we had at Autopolis on RS tires -- where the tread wears much faster once they exceed a certain temperature.

Womble did a good investigation about it here:

Added: Just to be clear, since this round's race is at Suzuka, where the temperatures don't get that high, and we are on RH tires, which have a higher temperature threshold than RSs, I don't expect it will be an issue this round.

I collected telemetry during a race and the tire temps IS the race. So if you have a dash app, use it. Basically it’s 2-3 laps push one cool down etc.

It’s a technique in the older manual cars to account for the fact that when you push the clutch you lift off the throttle in real life. Calister mentioned it in the video for round 1 in the Sauber. Basically you click the paddle shifter immediately lift off the throttle then immediately back on. The game does it for you but according to the interwebs it’s faster for upshifts.
Measured it on the WR with my telemetry script:
The alien lifts on every on-power shift… as a timed snap: flat until ~3 frames (~50ms) before the pull, full release, shift, back on within ~4 frames. The game accepts that lift as the clutch cut — replacing its own slow ~170ms auto-ramp with a shorter human one — and boost never goes negative (+0.2 → +0.1).

Not a bad season. A decent mix of cars. Some rounds where strategy came into play. I enjoyed it.

Not a bad result, either. Thanks to the silly top-split bonus this is by far the highest point total I've achieved in any season.

As always, thanks to everyone here for making these GTWS seasons so enjoyable. See you whenever the next one rolls around.

Had an eventful race in the UK 🇬🇧 at 09:00 slot. Q’d 10th and accepted lack of pace that seemed fair.
I was punted off at the 1st right hander to 16th but managed to make 8th after trying so so hard to be fair.
Happy with that as I’m definitely a mid DR-B racer as I learn.
1st time I’ve ever live streamed so have added the link if you’re bored for 20 minutes. 🫣🤪
ATB to 1 and all 🤠

Think this has been my best round so far, some really enjoyable races and some interesting strategic options (thanks again @Moose78 for your incredible analysis work). Will see how dailys go before next season as that's what normally drags me back to DR B but might have to accept GT1 and the stupid time slots (would it kill them just to add 1 slot during the daytime?)

Congrats I'm 13 below you (local) but not made it to thre A league yet,

Uneventful on the whole.

Weight diff only really affected me in T2 (2nd apex of 'First Corner\First Turn')

135 points all B's

3rd out the gate, so no fighting for clean lap, though guy infront should just hang up his boots and kept going off in front of me. Fortunately I was on a slower lap each time, so was able to sacrifice it and back off again🤦‍♂️

Q2 .3 off pole, with a 2:19.5

Good start, G2,TC1 and HB r

Could have got the lead 1st corner but let them through.

Got hit wide L2,T2 down to P4, but replay was choppy so could put that as a glitch hit, but they'd dive bombed from 4th T1, and I wouldn't say they were in control.

Got hit wide again next lap.

Raced with 3rd, who kept making a mess of Spoon exit.. got a rub past on the inside as they went wide and tried to cut back in.

Forcefully retook me T2 next lap with a nudge, but with a penalty over them, so stuck on their rear until they served it🤣🤣

Pulled away from 4th, who also got a couple more penalties.

Finished 3rd 6.5s behind. For 124points

If wasn't for the children drivers in Rd4, I might have been promoted in to A. So what about some kinda penalty system?...

Im new here.

So i was calmly putting pressure on the driver who was currently occupying my spot.

"His tires must be nearly shot" I said to the controller in my hands. Suddenly, as i pass underneath the waving white flag.

Blue screen and some useless words are all I see.

The game crashed during the last lap of the last race in round 3.

I had 1 second place finish earlier that day but i had this one in the bag...oh well

Coincidentally my Grandmother is from Bristol. I've a few cousins and a great uncle who live in Burnham. Cheers and well done..

Hi I just wanted to come on here to say thank you for everyone's tips and to Moose78 for his extensive testing information!

As a relative rookie it was incredibly helpful, I only got the game a few weeks before the manufacturers cup exhibition. I was in GT2 for the manufacturers cup with a carried over DR from GT Sport which I hadn't played since 2018. I picked Alfa because the 4C is easy on the eye and immediately got some good tips and strategy from you having the same manufacturer. In a lot of way the manufacturers were easier as there were just the two cars and you have them at your disposal to practice a lot with. I was slow compared to the rest of the pack and also in the bottom group with people who were not prepared but it was still fun. My usual MO was to do the circuit experience first, then a few laps myself and then jump onto a multiplayer server to practice which worked quite well across the week. I only really got one chance for a race each week due to being on quite late.

For the nations cup I was in the GT3 League consistent with my shiny new D DR (I lost a load on the reverse Nordschleife race week, it was really hard starting from the back and learning the track as well). I found it more challenging partly with my own time to practice but also because I didn't have many of the cars in my garage or to be able to buy. I was please to come away with 2 local thirds (down from 1st on the GT2 league as there are not many players in the area) and then 2 silvers for 2.9million credits.

Nations cup as I remember
Round 1 - Le Mans - not raced as away
Round 2 - Laguna Seca - F1. I was away until the Friday but managed to do the circuit experience and maybe 5 practice laps in the car. Qualified last. Mostly ran at a steady pace quite safely but got pushed off by people who knew to brake later at the corkscrew a few times. I got my Formula First achievement.
Round 3 - Red Bull A1 Ring - GT3 Porsche - Qualified Pole! Did the hard/medium strategy, got mugged and beaten up by cars on the faster tyre at the start. Changed nice and early and tripped over a back marker but managed to race well until tripping over the same guy again when lapping him to finish 3rd!
Round 4 - Trial Mountain - BRZ/GT86 - limited practice as unwell with bad feet that week. Qualified and finished 5th I think.Lots of position changes and scary ghosting. I did half a lap with another car inside of me.
Round 5 - Grand Vallery Reverse - Red Bull Car - tough to prepare for with no circuit experience and no car in garage or affordable to buy so no tyre wear practice. Relied on Moose74 strategy but ballsed it up again trying to do a one stop starting with hards. I started on pole, got bumped off 3 times on the first lap then spun myself off a few more times. Highlight was pulling away from the leader with repeated fastest laps as he came up to lap me after the pitstop. Finished last of the runners. Missed the start of the world cup quarter final as well.
Round 6 - Suzuka - A112 Abarth modified - I bought the car, I made a livery and then couldn't run a garage car (or do the engine swap) Thanks to the tips on here, the replay of the fast guys and Calster's video I did ok Started on pole again, drove most of the lap in 4th gear without changing. Led from start until the last chicane on the last lap where 2nd place tired a very ambitious and robust move that shoved me off to finish 2nd. I also picked up the 50 sport races achievement in this race!

I am not fast compared to the fast guys but at the moment in mid C I am able to mix it with the drivers around me which is fun. What comes next in terms of these league events? Hopefully it is not a Saturday again!
