I've managed to squeeze in a few tests laps with the new physics - can definitely brake much later but also seem slower in the NSX. Annoyed as I stupidly put in a bit of practice before the update and was happy with the car getting down to a sub 2.01 in FP - now about 1.5 s off that. Car has a definite wobble to it on the straight and definitely less pointy, like I can feel the tyre sidewall compressing before the grip kicks in, but more controllable once that has happened.

They have axed the Porsche... I agree it needed a nerf but man... I had 2:00.x qualifies in lobbies yesterday, today 2:01:4 the fastest. Harder to control overall and sluggish. Just for fun, did 1 lap with the Genesis, with zero training, just the outlap and 1 lap, did 2:00.6. This change, 2 days before the race...

Yep. It’s a handful on corner entry, but you can still floor it out of the corners. I jumped in the old RSR to compare and was quicker by my second lap. Went back to the GT3 and couldn’t match the RSR times.

Something else that might be worth noting is that it looks like we'll be getting the new 'Championship' damage mode for this season of races:
cars will be damaged in the same way as on the 'Light' setting, but from more minor collisions. Furthermore, with this setting enabled, recovery time will vary depending on the severity of damage sustained.
You can see it in the details for this first round in the game.

On the website, though, the 'Mechanical Damage' field for all four rounds is now blank:

Good to know! Going to give it a try.

Interesting, wonder if there will be damage differences between GT1,2 and 3? I remember the old days of heavy damage in GT1 - I hoped it would lead to more careful driving - it didn't

Oh this’ll be interesting for those drivers who currently use other cars’ bumpers and doors as their brakes. Hopefully the system can differentiate between attacker and victim though.

All patched up ..

Fanatec Fullforce...wow excellent!

GT7 wtf! ...initially 2 secs a lap slower, clawed back to .5 off, you kinda have to accerate past the understeer limit and you seem to gain grip!!!, which is just a pile of 💩. Pretty sure that doesn't happen in real physics🤪

After a trail run I see in Audi 12S-8M will be my strategy (or vice versa if I qualify low), 13 laps on softs is a ice skating really. Btw. do you have some optimal moment to change tires? Like it's still white around 1/3 or 1/4? Or you go as low as possible? I assume optimal timing is when your laps timing decrease but I'm so inconsistent it's hard to measure based on results. Any tips appreciated.

Also wonder about this "championship" damage system, I believe it's something new. Played with AI and 2-3 laps before pit stop I bumped on purpose other car. My front bumper went red and I thought it'll stay like this till pit and repair. To my dissatisfaction it went grey again after some time, maybe bit longer than usual. And it might have bit more impact on steering and times but also can be my imagination/inconsistency.

Was able to do even a better qualy with the RSR in a lobby, compared to the GT3R pre-update, so that's very good news. Also saw many players using the RSR in the lobbies. Now I need to work on RM because I'm much slower with them in the RSR (~1 second slower)

I signed with Jaguar for this event. Exopecting to struggle at Suzuka and Catalunya, while it should be strong for CGV and Bathurst. Excited for the BoP shake-up and changes in physics. So far there is a lot less power-oversteer in the Jag, for better or worse...

Well, the Renault is pretty much screwed in this exhibition season. They added weight to an already 'nerfed car' and didn't add any power. The straight line speed is absolutely dire.

I managed a 1:59.749 in free practice to put me as the second fastest Renault driver in the world. Currently sitting at about 530 globally. The #1 Renault driver (who is a VQS team member) can only manage 1:59.2xx. So, that tells the whole story.

I don't understand what PD are trying to achieve with this PP change, but it's definitely going to be a challenge for me in GT1 league, where I'll prpbably be racing a load of Porsche and Ferrari drivers once again and maybe a bunch of new Genesis drivers for good measure. Good luck tomorrow fellas.

I changed a bit the brake balance towards the rear (2) and I feel like it help a lot on corners entry. I haven’t yet been able to match my pre update time but I’m getting closer (2:00.8** pre update and I got a 2:01.008 yesterday)

I got some testing done last night, but not a full round. Still have to test RS tires on the Genesis. These are the results, such as they are. I'll try to post another update tonight with the Genesis RS numbers once I have them.

I've included comparisons to pre-update numbers for comparison. As you'll see, I am now well off my already slow pace. Crashes galore, too. In my Genesis RM test, I was in the sand at Degners three laps in a row. I have to say I'm not loving the physics changes so far.

The one improvement I have seen, though, is in tire wear. I'm not sure how much of that is directly because of tire physics changes or just because I'm driving so much slower because of the other physics changes. Regardless, the tires are lasting noticeably longer for me now than before the update.

Interesting wear figures. Usually I’d start on the mediums and those now make it look more appealing to do that and switch early, but on this track I think position will be more important. Might stick on the softs wherever I quali and run with/behind the pack.

I've tried a few lobby races and don't think I can keep the RS competitive for more than about 8 laps (haven't figured out how to stop going off the track being an instant death sentence post patch). Shame as I like the idea of a short RM stint and then getting clean air on the RS. Will have to see where I qualify and decide last minute what to do. Good luck everyone, I know I'll need it!

Best of luck to everybody racing! I hope you do better than me.
I tested some cars in free time trial with BoP activated.
Genesis X was the fastest and with Hard tires I did 2:05.5.
Most probably I am slower than before but now I have the feeling to control the car.
What it is incredible for me now after the physics update is how much the accelerator can influence the car behavior in the curves.
For me a change from night to daylight.

Almost all the cars I tried I was capable to use with TCS 0 while before I had to keep at least at 2 to not spin when accelerating.
Now I can go quite full throttle without issues and I found it quite strange.

But now I can play with the steering wheel and making the front of the car loose grip and recover it as I like with full control.

Okay. Testing is done. Or done as it's going to be for this round. Here are the numbers (including from before the update for comparison):

Note: These simulations don't take into account the order that the tire compounds are used. For example, 7RS-13RM is equivalent to 13RM-7RS.

I can't believe how ridiculously slow I am in the NSX, especially on RM tires. Before the update, I was off the pace of the Genesis, but not unreasonably so. Now, the two are miles apart. Clearly, I don't know how to drive the car properly. On the bright side, I should have plenty of clean air in my race tomorrow as the rest of the field pulls away.

As for the Genesis, from what I've heard, it has become the Gr.3 META. It's been a while since I've done a Manu Cup season in car that's any good. Guess I won't be able to blame any poor results on the car this season.

As always, best of luck everyone! I'm looking forward to hearing how your races go.

Anyone with the new Fanatec firmware uninstall it immediately.

Was ok Thurs & Fri

Did a quick lobby test this morning and it powered off.

Qualifying, rotated full right, full force and off.

Managed to get a quali lap in in the. Back marker traffic and got Q5,

Was happily running in 3rd, then the wheel powered off again.💩💩💩💩

Ran the last 8 or so laps with no feedback,

Finished 6th
🙆‍♂️

An enjoyable morning in Japan.

As my DR is quite low at the moment I was in a 42 point GT3 lobby (all C/S). Door number #12 so wasn’t expecting much. Went out last for quali. First 2 laps were meh but I crossed the line with a couple of seconds to spare for a final attempt and pulled out a P4. Still a couple of seconds behind a suspiciously fast front row.

IMG_5930.webp

The Z4 is quick off a rolling start so I almost had P3 into turn 1. Debated sending it but too scared, slotted in behind. Lost a place on lap 1 through sloppiness, settled in after that.

The leaders pitted lap 10. I went to lap 12 on my softs, probably 1 too far. Still had about 30% grip showing for the fronts but was getting major understeer.

Pitted from P2. Came out P4 just ahead of a Ferrari that undercut me. They had way more pace anyway, got past quick and ended up 20 seconds up the road. Either they were on softs to the end or I had no pace on the mediums. Maybe both. A lonely but comfortable last few laps for a P5.

IMG_5931.webp

P2 was in a Hyundai so yeah that’s apparently good now after all this time.

Did my race, low GT2 lobby. Was door 12? I think.

Suzuka 6 hours paid off as without a lot of practice I qualified 3rd with a 2:01 dead. Was tempted to use usual tactic of slower tyre first but decided to stay on the softs, which was by far the right choice as me and the 2 leaders pulled away to over 3 seconds after lap 1.

The pole sitter was leading for the first 3-4 laps with a fair bit of pressure from P2. After 4 laps they were 3 seconds ahead of me, they were just slightly cleaner in a few paces which was gaining them about half a second a lap. We were all 7+ seconds ahead of 4th.

In Lap 5 the leader and pole sitter spun off and I overtook. They were about 3 seconds behind me but losing time when I was expecting them to come back. They ended up finishing 5th or 6th.

P2 became the leader and slowly pulled away not helped by me making a couple of mistakes that probably cost me about 5 seconds overall. They pitted for mediums on Lap 7 but I knew the softs would go a bit longer. They came out in P2 so I had a few laps in the lead until I pitted Lap 11 as the softs were just starting to get sketchy and thought there is no point in living dangerously.

Came out P3 behind a Porsche on mediums going long. They pitted lap 13 for softs and came out 3rd around 11 seconds behind so I inherited 2nd again. By this point I was lapping the same speed as P1 but they were 12 seconds ahead. Had a minor concern when I noticed P3 was gaining about 1.25 seconds a lap on the softs. Just kept it clean and with no danger and by end of lap 18 the gap was stable at 4 seconds so I think the main bite went out of the softs.

Cruised home for a comfy P2 and +84 points in 41:30.

GT 2, B lobby, 10 AM slot.
Qualified 9th with my PB after recent update (2:02:600) so I assumed it'll be a drag for me... In terms of tires it was 9 RM's and 11 RS - I was surprisingly smooth on mediums so wanted to have softs as good as possible for last laps. In the end finished 4th while I was usually between 6th and 8th place and comfortable driving. Very happy, especially one pusher got what he/she deserved in a last turn.

So basically in a middle of a race while cruising in 6th position got pushed on purpose of the track by one guy and I've lost 3 positions... Later I saw this dude also pushed another driver, sweet:/ Mario Kart servers went down, buddy?

On a last laps I managed to get back to 6th-5th and I was really happy with that. Pusher that was just ahead of me crashed 4th placer and we moved up on a ladder one spot. Last lap, 5th place, pusher in front, ok not chasing him so just to end it nicely. But ofc mr. pusher lost control of his car on one of the final turns. I got ahead of him and knew it'll be carnage on last turns... This one that you can go on a full speed I made a mistake and breaked slightly, saw guy got on by bumper for last two turns. Of course he pushed me to the green section and I was just trying not to loose grip and spin the car. Due to throttle control, thankfully car got straight and bumped the pusher. He got a nice, juicy spin, I rode of to the sunset, got 4th in the end, and what was even better guy felt to 7th place I think:)

GT2 EMEA 9am slot mid B lobby 120 points up for grabs

Really not enjoying driving the car after these updates, qualified 14th with a 2.01.666 and T1 became my nemesis, where I could either do it very slowly or alternatively go wide and lose all grip outside the track. Started on RM and switched to RS on lap 11 as just don't have confidence in the car to push worn tyres. Came home in 10th for 75 points after a couple of quitters helped raise my position.

GT2 EMEA 10am slot mid B lobby 117 points available.

Decided to go again as I was just about getting to grips with things at the end of the last race. Put in a 2.01.463 for 9th, still nothing near what I could do pre update. Drove a steady race, finally managing to deal with T1 a bit better, again went for a RM RS, with switching on Lap 11. Moved up through the field through others mistakes and caught quite a few people in the end as I was on RS to come home 3rd for 107 points (mainly from others mistakes).

Debating if I want to keep playing post update, which is a shame as I really enjoyed the last nations.

Can't make the GT1 slots today for my alt account, probably a saving grace at this point.

Good luck to those yet to race!
