crap...i just realized i said qualifying instead of practice in my first post. that's edited.

There is no live practice, right? i caught qualifying this morning. I can't believe the ferraris lost so much in the last sector.

ferrari is looking strong. and montoya continues to dissapoint. did he run heavy again or is he just off the pace as usual?

p.s. i hate getting up at 5 on a sunday to catch a GP

The race is gonna be on the Speed Channel right? Sadly I have no cable or satellite so the only F1 races I've seen this year were the Canadian GP on CBS (horrible commentary) and the European GP which I downloaded. But I'm going to my uncle's house tomorrow and he has cable.

I think Alonso will get a good lead gap from the beginning, Michael and Kimi should be a good fight to watch. Trulli won´t hold the 2nd position for long I think, and I hope Rubinho to get a good start so he can try a place in the podium.

Way to go Trulli....

I have a feeling MS is going to take this one...

My prediciton

MS
Alonso
Kimi
Trulli

The launch control on the Renault will make sure that Alonso is first after the first lap. Unless he has a problem, I see him taking the win.

The cars don't have launch control anymore, remember? :dopey:

Predictions:
MS
Alonso
Kimi
Trulli

Just tape it.

Unfortunatly I'm going to miss the Grand Prix so I'll have to watch it sometime tomorrow.

Inside the France GP is on right now. It'll be on Speed at 4:30AM here. No CBS coverage is a good thing.

MS is going to win due to the pitstop strategy not due to his skills, which I doubt they are better than other drivers.

Not a bad race 👍

Amazing drive from Alonso and I Laughed my head off just now because tehy messed the flags up on the podium.

Schumacher, Finnish? Never!

Did anyone else notice the mirror on the Ferrari's pit stop lollipop? It took me a wee while to work out what it was there for, and then it hit me. It's there so that the driver can see exactly when the fuel hose is clear. As soon as that's out, the driver is free to go* as there are not any tyre changes now. That must save a few tenths every stop.

* I know the lollipop also means that there is no one else coming down the pitlane, and I assume that if the lollipop is still there when the driver's helmet hits it, the driver will stop.

I noticed that daan but not the reason behind it.Good find 👍

And does anyone think Sato should take up rallying?

good race. I also laughed my ass off at the flags being screwed up. that, added with the awkward way they were hoisted up. it's like Madame [insert french surname]'s kindergarten class was working the ropes. someone's dislexic.

I also thought it was a great drive by kimi to keep up with alonso even from 12th place. he would've beaten him had the race been double length, imo. I can't imagine the gap if kimi actually started from P2.

Anyone else think Montoya had a few words with his mechanics?
"YOU BROKE MY ****ING CAR! YOU IDIOT!!!!"

Damn great race. Alonso had pole, and never lost that position. Fisi finished for points, but should have done better.

i thought mclaren had an eccelent drive. kimi was fast again with a very heavy fuel load. had he not of had engine problems earlier in the weekend he would of won again as mclaren was the fastest on race day again. and montoya had a very impressive drive until, yet again he has mechanical problems. this guy must of taken out alot of camera men in his day.

was also surprised ferrari never put up any kind of challenge. i guess this really is going to be a 2 horse race.

IMO Ferrari keep lucking themselve sinto the podium. Yes they have good reliability but they aren't ovrtaking to get into positions merely relying on the mistakes of other.

It just doesn't seem the way past champions should be suceeding.

I only got to see the last 15 laps, it started at 9:00 but i woke up at 11...damn. O well at least i got to see the champagne squirting. I hope the britsh grand prix has more action. Neck and neck is what I like to see.

Fairly enjoyable race, a bit boring...but at least they were racing. Magny-Cors never has any really great races.

At least my prediction had the right players, sans JB. It should be an interesting 2nd part of the season between Alonso and Kimi. Kimi has the faster car but Alonso has the more reliable one. Speed vs. reliability....should be great to watch. MS could still sneak in there if there are a few wet/cold races (not likely though..).

My money is on Kimi for the title, even with the Merc/Ilmor engine BS.

My wife and I were talking about this during the race. if Flavio had kept Trulli Renault would be light years ahead in the constructors right now, untouchable...not to mention how amazing the racing would be between Kimi/JPM vs. Alonso/Trulli with MS/Rubens thrown in at times. I love Trulli and he is doing weel at Toyota but he would be doing better with the Reanult. I still hold that Fisi is a good driver but he has lost something this season in the past 5 or so races.

In the long term Toyota is the better bet IMO. I see Renault dropping of pace in th next few years, especially if they win some titles but Toyota will keep getting stronger and stronger. By that time I doubt Trulli will still be there but you never know.

Trulli is still my #1, Kimi is my #2...

My thoughts exactly. Kimi is just crazy-fast though. I see Toyota battling more with mclaren and renault fighting with ferrari. I definitely think that F1 has become more team-based and the heirarchy has been shattered with ferrari's loss of total dominance. I think the next few years will be very very interesting.

Kimi should have won. Clearly the McLaren was the fatest car on the grid... seeing as how Kimi managed to stay within .1s off Alonso's time in qualy with the heaviest fuel load. But, again, it's not always about speed.
The race itself was a little boring.
Both Sato and Fisichella could have managed to score better if they hadn't made any mistakes. But that's how you score the most points... putting together a mistake-free race.

Actually I think that´s so MS can see his rear tire´s condition. You know, the same reason he had the car´s mirror moved up.

It was a good race, no luck for the Brazilians though. :indiff:

Kimi was amazing though, and Ferrari was smart doing Michael´s first 2 pit stops faster than planned so he could gain positions since the circuit doesn´t provide much options for overtaking.

Pretty boring race and the championships don't change too much ... Kimi's engine change on Friday really screwed up his weekend. Oh well ....
