Have you guys noticed a pattern with all the practice sessions, and the first qualifying?

Renault always took one of the top two spots. Once they took both. Both drivers always took the top five together.

Persistent performance from Renault shows us all how the race will finish.

"I'm happy that Ralf is okay after such a big accident," Trulli said. "For me, though, it was tough to be the first driver out after an accident like that. Because of the wait it meant that the temperature of the track went down a lot. On my warm-up lap I also found that the track was dusty and slippery. I had no problems with my car but I didn't have enough faith to push as hard as usual, especially through the second sector. All in all, this was not a lucky day and it leaves us a bit further back than we would have liked. But tomorrow is another day, we have another qualifying session in the morning and we will hope to do our best to improve our position."

Well he has to start from the rear anyway so it'll robably be new engine and car.

Yeah, sucks to be Ralf right now. I'd be surprised if he finishes higher than 10th (unless retirements kick in and effect the finishing order).
 
So he's stuck with JM. Not a good place to be considering what happen to the other Shumi last year. Heh. Just hope Ralphie doesn't brake check Monty.

why the hell would he do that? its not a movie script, big deal, although i wouldnt want to be next to Montoya in any type of vehicle, hes an A$$ IMO

kimi's special helmet has to be one of the coolest i've ever seen. lol. i wonder who the lucky owner's gonna be.

i have a feeling kimi and alonso will be doing quite a bit of battling. i just hope to god that the mclaren holds up. i also have a feeling that webber and trulli will be doing some battling, and maybe trulli will challenge the top two as well.
 
Gonna be an interesting first corner for the back runners.

And Omnis, ditto about the McLaren holding up.

Trulli moved ahead of Nick, and Michael moved ahead of JV and Rubens.

Should be a good race (Go Kimi, go Webber, go Trulli)

A muppet! Thats a bit harsh, it was a simple mistake which around any other curcuit wouldn't have even been noticed.

Friesacher 8th!! :scared: Maybe if those only 8 cars that cross the line :) 👍
 
Yes, a muppet, mistakes are fine when you can get away with them, you can't on Monaco. Plus, tabac is a pretty damn hard corner to stuff up, if you've seen how he did this you'd realise that it was pretty stupid judgement to put the car where he did.

And yes, I think Frieasacher will get points, I think he can beat the Jordans to the line if nothing goes wrong for him (that's a big if). And historically Monaco is a race of attrition, so if he finishes he's got a decent chance at points. I believe there were 9 finishers last year.

Anyway, I'm getting out of hear before the race starts, don't want any spoilers ;)

I did see how he did it from the onboard camera and he just corrected a slight amount oversteer to much, it is a question of a couple of centimeters at 170mph through tabac its definatly not an easy corner. And he told the F1 coverage in the UK that he had been suffering with understeer through that corner in practice but in qualifying he got a bit more grip than he expected. Perfectly acceptable mistake.

Anyway Great race towards the end anyway. It was a bit dull at the start though. Great overtaking by Trulli although he bust his car, The tyre wear on those renaults was unbelievable and i'm very suprised that Alonso finished. Well done to schumacher for getting the fastest lap and finishing with the exact same time as his brother although ralph got 6th position and micheal seventh even though he had to change a front wing. The race pace of the ferraris is amazing i just hope they get qualifying right and become more consistent again. The Alonso Webber battle was also good to watch even though they ended up creating there own race track and missing out the chicane :) 👍
 
I missed the race, last night´s beer didn´t let me watch it.

I just saw at the end that Schumacher overtook Rubinho lol, it seemed a good move but Rubens was quite mad about it aparently.

And the TV guy said that Villeneuve took Massa out of the race when he was in a good position, and Massa called him stupid after that. Too bad for Felipe, he´s a great driver and deserves a better car for next season.

That was funny villeneuve tried to overtake at the end of the start finish straight but had no chance and they both went off letting about 4 cars through

Monaco is always a fun race to watch and this one was no different. Can Kimi be stopped when he is on pole? It is starting to look like no, unless the car gives up on him. He is very, very fast. Though you still can't understand a word from him after the race. Mumble, mumble is all I'm hearing. The passings of Alonso was pretty entertaining, especially the Webber-Alonso battle. I'm surprised JPM didn't try a little harder at making a pass.
 
I have to say one thing: Other drivers would have retired from the race if they'd be in Alonso's situation. I remember Rubinho retired when he had the same slick problems. Anyway, the only word that can describe Renault's strategy is PATETIC. Really.

PD: I think Webber has to be punished for his actuation in race, blocking Alonso that phucking way, making him cross the chicane. There would have been a really bad incident. At least, if he has to overtake Alonso, make it nice, like Heidfeld, but NOT blocking brakes!!!

Great race for Kimi. He was just unbelievable. Renault set up the cars wrong, and they paid for it. There's no reason why they shouldn't have come in 2nd and 3rd. But, because they got the tires wrong, they paid for it by losing a lot of constructor points. They really dropped the ball on this one, and I'm a bit surprised they screwed up so badly. But, they had to try something to get ahead of Kimi who is on fire right now.

The race was smooth as silk for the first half, unless you're a Jordan fan. Heh. Great job by everyone. The last 1/3 of the race was very exciting and very entertaining. Next up, Nurb.
 
Unfortunately, I was over at a neighbors house 'til after midnight last night, and I missed the whole damn race. :( :yuck: :grumpy: :mad: :banghead: 🤬 Does anyone know if they will replay it at any time, I live in the US, so I'd be watching it on Speed. I really hope they replay it. :nervous:

I actually think Renault's idea was very good, I just think if they had decided on it previousley they might have used harder compounds and Fisichella not stumbled so badly.

You'll have to wait until F1 Decade to watch it. I think Speed Channel is limited to showing F1 races only twice. They already have. Once at 4:30AM PCT for the live race, if they have it, and once at 8:30AM PCT for the repeat. That's it until it shows up on F1 Decade ten years from now.
