I know that the 'Ring has been added to the track list on GT4, which just adds to the realism, plus gives anyone a buzz. I have also noticed that Monte Carlo has been snuck into the track list under a different name (i may be mistaken). I was doing some racing and I was racing on a track that seemt familiar to me. If I'm not mistaken, I think Magny Cours has been snuck into GT4 under a different name. Can someone please clarify this for me and also tell me if there are any other Grand Prix Tracks added to the track list on GT4?

no i dont think Magny cours is in GT4, there are only a couple F1 circuits on GT4 but they are some of the best ones like Monte Carlo and Suzuka, and by the way, Cote d Azur is the name of the racetrack, its just called the Monaco Grand Prix or Monte Carlo Grand Prix, Monte Carlo is the city's name. Monaco is the country. Cote d Azur is the track.
but what track do you think Magny cours is on GT4?

Infineon Raceway

The whole track seemed very familiar to me, plus it's in the World Tracks section, which also could indicate it could be Magny Cours, but I haven't played any F1 games for a while so I could be mistaken.

It has been referred to as sears point in the past. It is in sonoma Ca just north of SF. Nascar has a race there also.
 
Extract from their website:
" Infineon Raceway is located 30 minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco"

so I guess it can't be Magny Cours lol :dopey:
 
The Nurburgring thats in GT4 was used in F1 till 1976, but they removed it after many accidents as it could not be marshalled properly (due to its length). Its length also meant that medical attention could not be given to crash victims in a reasonable length of time, in fact when Lauda had his accident there in 76 other F1 drivers stopped to give assistance. The modern Nurburgring GP track is just to the left of the start finish line in gt4 but does not use any of the same road.

The other 2 F1 tracks are Suzuka and Cote d Azur. As far as I can tell Suzuka is pretty accurate but Monte Carlo is missing various run off areas and some of the track has changed. This could be due to it being a simulation of the Monaco track from the late 80s early 90s? But I don't know for sure.

There has been some talk of using Fuji as the Japanese GP but as far as I know there are no firm plans. I think I've heard that Toyota use it for testing.
 
I think that all the F1 tracks should be added to GT in future releases. Tracks like the A1 ring in Austria, Adelaide in Australia, Interlagos in Brazil would be good additions to the track lists along the Spa Francoschamps in Belgium.
 
The 80's Fuji layout is an F1 track, used for the Japanese GP in the 70's.

A friend of mine from another board told me that that it's possible that Cita D'Aria (Assisi) is part of the Mille Miglia. The city streets are familiar at least, but the country roads weren't included.

At first I too thought that either Assisi or Capri were part of the Targa Florio, but then I realized that the Targa Florio was held in Sicily! Whoops! Hehehe.

Because PD just called it Fuji 80's instead of just "pre-1990's"? :sly:
But seriously, the 80's track is slighty different from the 70's one in terms of scenery, like braking markers, track surface, etc. The actual track layout however, is the same.

In hindsight of this, you could say that the Nordschleife in GT4 is really just Nordschleife 00's, so it's technically not an F1 track. The old F1 Nurburgring was very different in some key areas, the first corner was a 180 degree bend that devided the Nordschleife from the Sudschleife, some corners had hedges instead of guardrails, the long straight had hedges, some trees were exposed, etc.

Yes I recall the'Ring having hedges aswell. If I'm not mistaken also, I believe the 'Ring had a massive structure (maybe oval if i recall) which several corners went around.

Actually, I think Fuji was originally intended to be a combination banked oval with infield road track. Constuction began on both at once, but they ran out of money before either could be completed. Some wise person realised that if they scraped some funds together, they could link the semi-completed banked and road sections and still have a complete circuit.

👍 The original start finish was somewhere underneath the start/finish straight of the current GP circuit (not the Nordschleife). They knocked it down and modified the Nordschleife in order to provide the additional GP circuit. :guilty:

Yea, its called Sears Point(Infineon) I think. This is probably the only track that makes NASCAR races somewhat good to watch, because its not a boring oval track as the majority of NASCAR races are. Seeing NASCAR race cars on this track is very odd, as I'm used to seeing those dam oval tracks.

Some wise person realised that if they scraped some funds together, they could link the semi-completed banked and road sections and still have a complete circuit.

True, here's a short history. As you can see from the map at the bottom, very little of the origninal banked corner still exists.

Also, Monaco (Côte d' Azur) was in GT3.

Reading that makes me think it's a shame they didn't add a Fuji 60's track, it would have been great for the early Japanese stuff which I'm fond of. Thinking about it, I can dimly recall seeing pictures of Japanese race cars from this time on what looks like steep banking, so maybe they're on this original Fuji track?
 
The Suzuka track is owned by Honda, and Fuji circuit is owned by Toyota.

Now that Toyota have a decent F1 team, they would like to bring the Japanese GP back to Fuji. I have not seen any details of the proposed track layout, but I would assume it would be similar to the GT'05 circuit in the game.

Off topic, I would like to see Nissan and Mazda enter F1, I think they would do a good job...
