Grand Theftendo is a remake of Grand Theft Auto III for the original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It is Grand Theft Auto III running on an 8 bit, 256x240 resolution, 2 bit colour x 2 bit palette, 1.79 Mhz system, written entirely in 6502 Assembly Language! It includes the entire Portland city!

Very impressive and amazing for an effort by a single person!

That's awesome. I hope he eventually does release it as a ROM available for a NES emulator. I have a NES emulator I use and this could be a cool thing to check out.

I've just noticed this.

Those screenshots are definitely not using a 2-bit colour or a 2-bit palette. 2-bit means only 4 colors but those screens have definitely more than 4 colors. Maybe they're 4-bit colour, i.e. a 16 color palette.

If he does release a ROM, I'll be grabbing it. I always have soft spots for these old school pixel games. :dopey:

Oh, and it is a 4-bit pallete if you check the design page. ;)

I have an N64 Emulator somewhere I think. I actually have an old NES in the Garage. It doesn't work though, as the Power cord blew, and I believe the NES's had a special Power Cord that they don't sell anymore. I'll just go find a NES Emulator. But I won't bother for now, too busy with San Andreas.

Why did you bring up the fact that you have an N64 emulator? Unless it was a typo....

I've used both NESticle and Jnes. I'm not sure if NESticle is WinXP compatible. It hasn't work for me since I upgraded.
Thanks, I just Google Searched NESticle, and found a heap of stuff. But I think I'll get Jnes, as I hate downloading things on 56K and then having them screw up or generally not work.

I just brought it up, no reason. Pointing these things out doesn't help.

I just though it might have been a typo, it seemed quite out of place if it wasn't a typo.
