Graphic Issues?

I'm trying to figure out if it's my PS3 or GT5P.

Anyway one thing I've always noticed is that when cars go off road through the grass and kick up dirt/dust, whatever you want to call it. The effect kinda looks blocky or it just doesn't look right. I wish I could explain it better, but basically it doesn't look smooth and looks off.

Another issue I had today seemed like when I was racing on Fuji in one of the event races I think the 780pp race for some reason alot of times everything felt blurry or maybe it was slowdown from all the cars in a line? I haven't had this problem before on Fuji and the last time I played was before the update.

Oh I'm playing the Japanese GT5P. So anyone else experienced these things or is my PS3 kooky?

q1- i noticed that when the cars go off the road, under the dust there looks too be a 'grid' like pattern.

q2- haven't noticed that at all, but are you using an hdtv if so what kind DLP, LCD, plasma because from what you discribed it looks to be motion blur or ghosting which is a lag issue with mostly DLPs, and some lcds.

Alright so the grid pattern thing, I couldn't think how to describe it is in there. Alright so it's not my PS3! That's good to know.

I had two downloads going for GTTV, also my connection has been slow lately.
I'm running my PS3 through HDMI to a 42" Sharp Aquos LCD HDTV in 1080p. It may have just been due to the downloading? I don't ever have information board enabled. I learned how much of a pain that was right away.

I'm happy to say that it's fixed with the Aug 1st update (the pixelatedn dust).

I experienced this as well, I use the NTSC version, I think it's just a part of the game that needs to be improved, but that's all I think it is.

See I still noticed the grid pattern/pixellated dust even with the August 1 update. Unless they did slightly different things for the differnt versions of Prologue?

The blocky dust effect and the jaggies around the cars are, according to PD are going to be improved.
It does make a difference as to what kind of TV you have. It seems to notice more on 1080p then it does on 720p.

i have a PAL GT5p and I can say that I'm shocked to hear that!! the blocky dust effect & jaggies (an issue before the update,at least for me) are just NOT THERE after the update, cockpit looks smooth and clear, dust effect is also much, MUCH better than before..
p.s. i use SONY 40w4210 in 1080p through HDMI

There are very minor jaggies to the cars when viewed in the garage, and the blocky dust effect appears more noticable in single player events. no doubt that will get fixed in an update.

Something that has bugged me minorly from the start is the twinkly white graphics that show up in many of the panel gaps, around headlights, and in seams on the cars. Is this something in my setup or does everyone see these. I only really notice it in the garage or in replays. The graphics look great otherwise but the highlights in all of the dark panel gaps is annoying.

I've noticed that also. I've seen quite a few people on other forums mention it, it's kind of like tiny christmas tree lights around the seams of the cars.

Yeah I see those lines in the cracks of the interior panels and such. I haven't played online in GT5P since the update, I actually can't say I ever really noticed the grid looking pattern online, but I've never been paying attention that much. I always always noticing that grid pattern dust in single events.

I always found it funny that people were raving about how beautiful the game was but ignoring the pink elephant of the glitter in all of the creases. Seems like an obvious thing that should have been taken care of prior to the release of ever prologue.

Still love the game but the sparkles bug me.

I honestly haven't observed any such "glitter". :/

The "glitter" is jagged edges at the perimeter of body panels. This is due to a lack of anti-aliasing on the car models. AA seems to be applied to virtually everything else; probably the high polygon count of the cars causes slowdown when AA is enabled with the current engine. Hopefully that'll be optimized away in an update.

^ You got that bang on. PD said that were going to remedy those graphical issues.

I saw those Xmas lights as well, but after the update it has gotten a lot less... the cars look a lot smoother in the garage now... The grid pattern is still there... the blocky sand kicking up is something I havent noticed yet...

Are you squinting when you play? Do you sit 20' from your TV? :dopey:

No squinting, and I actually sit about 5 feet away from the screen. During a race, and during most menu screens, I notice very few jaggies. There are some in the dealership, as well as some during that oriental My Page backdrop due to the lighting making them more noticable.

There are bigger issues than the jaggies for me. At the start of a race, before you actually take control and it's just showing the cars, the shadows (on the cars) can and do look extremely poor.

Also, some of the cars close to the camera have a weird blurry effect going on. Not like a focus blur either. The car just looks like it's not being rendered properly. The textures are blurry and they flicker. And it only does it for some cars. :/

I find the AA issues are ok when I mess around with my tv settings, the one I find strange in the dashboard view is every so often it flickers for a frame or two, as if the interior has vanished.
It's hard to explain because it happens so quick but you know it's happening, not sure if anyone else has noticed.

Another I really can't stand is when I cross the start finish line and hit the jump on elger is when the crowd pop up ,this bugs me because it never happened on GTHD, obviously there is more going on now and I have no doubt it will get sorted but it's something that bugs me.

Sometimes on my page when the camera looks at your car and you can see that stone arch, the grill looks like it's getting scanned.

Also in the replay have they canged the gear shift animation since the update? I think he leans into it a little more than before.

But In general I'm blown away by the graphics every few races,I look around and think wow,

The graphics are outstanding. I reckon when GT5 is finaly released, it will be beat the other console racers by a long way.

I noticed a few jags in the showroom but I don't mind it at all as its not part of the simulation of driving. The focus has lighting problems too. It shines too brightly.

I see what you mean, but at least another year yet, so the car modelling will come good.

Yeah i notice they need to fix the AA completely, on daytona oval u can see such blocky shadows on the bonnet of the car its like errr wtf? lol
The AA is a big one. i dont understand why they cannot have smooth shadows? it cannot be that hard considering the gfx for the rest is so detailed and perfect (well near perfect)
oh and i do hope they fix the jaggies in the showroom and main screen, sure its not a MASSIVE ISSUE, but if this was fixed also it would make it look so much more realistic with the smooth edges and finishing, who agrees?

I'm pretty sure that GT has a shadow system independent from the gfx.

Maybe so, but the shadows are just pathetic imo, only a few angles the shadows seem to be half decent, but the shadows on the cars that look blocky and crap is just silly, im sure its not a MASSIVE issue for them to fix, but its something i would and sure a few others would love to see fixed completely hopefully by gt5
