Type in a band/artist or song you like, and it makes a free playable mp3 playlist for you, with the songs being somehow similar to the search. It's run through iTunes, so it's all legal and you can buy the songs or albums there too.

It's also all free, which is really cool. It'll ask you for your email at a certain point, but you won't get any mail from them or anything. You also can't skip tracks too much, there's an hourly limit according the their license. Other than that, there isn't a catch to be seen.

Check it out, it's my new alternative to my Winamp library:

Pandora

Great website. 👍 The choices they offer sometimes seems to be a little random, I typed in Nightwish and I got Christina Aguilera included in the playlist. :odd:

Well check the music category you typed in. It will most likely contain something to do with Christina's music.

But you are right, some of the songs are a bit of a stretch. For me at least it's a different sound to hear over my normal 4 or 5 hundred songs.

Like a radio, it is still broad, but still honed to your preferences. For instance, this song I'm on right now (The Jesus and Mary Chain - Never Understand) is absolute trash.

Bah, I searched Pandora.com instead of Pandora. 👎 on me. Haha, and I just bumped an old thread by accident :dunce:

This is an excellent site 👍 Nice find (both of you)

I used to 'discover' new music by browsing through www.allmusic.com, which is an excellence music reference site (with lists of related/similar artists/albums etc.), but I'm already finding some good stuff through Pandora... great idea for a site :)

Must've taken ages to categorize all of that database, and also update it with new releases.

I had to stop using the site unfortunately because it would slow down my computer far too much. I did find some good music while I did use it though.

anti: at least you searched ;)

I'm just wondering how much Megs of download it uses everyday you leave it playing... Other than that slight worry, its truly a revolutionary site. I've found loads of bands I like that I didn't know about before...
