The only one that comes to mind that I haven't seen mentioned yet is the mapping of the human genome.

A few I can think off the top of my head are mobile phones, airbags and seatbelts in cars, paracetamol, MP3 players, forensic science
 
I believe people were slicing their own bread long before it came 'sliced in a wrap'.
Not sure, though.

Its actually a very valid point. That show Futureweapons gets me all tingly in all of the right places. I LOVE seeing how we get to blow-up the bad guys in the not too distant future.

JDAM - Lets us, presumably, drop bombs in the right place
Apache - The pinnacle of attack helicopters
M1 Abrams - Yes. Yes please. Sooooo cool.

Just stuff on the top of my head. EMPs are the scary future, but I'm interested to see how we eventually (presumably) apply it.

Definitely.

Radar jamming spared lives in Vietnam, and the F-86 Sabre was crucial to a stalemate in the Korean War. The nuclear missile? They were instrumental in the Cold War in its creation and demise, but if one of those were to go off accidentally... *pauses* Wasn't the Cormanche the pinnacle?
