Sorry if this has already been talked about but was just watching an old episode of top gear and realised that a DLC pack of the worlds best point to point roads would be absolutely stunning on this game, imagine racing either on your own or with a friend through a hd recreation of the Swiss alps in a Ferrari with the sun slowly peeking over the tops of the mountains, not to mention the fun all you drifter would have.

Just wondering if I am the only one out there that would be more than happy to pay for a DLC like this.

In the mean time I am happy driving round the ring.

If they released this for DLC I would end up calling in sick to work so I could play all day. It would be a dream. It was my hope to do something like this with the track creator but we all know how crummy that system is.

This article covers them all:

20 Greatest Driving Roads in the World

From Highway 1, Stelvio Pass, Amalfi Coast, Deals Gap, Ruta 40, Touge Fuji, Transfagarasan Highway to the Trollstigen.

However, there are 2 roads missing on the above list.

First is almost unbelievable The Jebel Hafeet Mountain Road in Saudi Arabia, brand new built highway on the top of the mountain, stretching over 11 kilometres and reaching altitudes of 1.2 kilometres of height.

Amazing at night, absolutely out of this world:

Hafeet_mountain__Al_Ain__UAE_by_Alkhalifi.jpg

Take a look at this wonderful video:

Second one lies on the Croatian island of Hvar (Pharos), it is over 80km long and it is the main island road that connects two sides of the island.

Road travels inside the very island, it has few mountain climbs and downs, it has both coastal and inside sections and starts as a 60-years old asphalt road with old tarmac and almost no modern properties. Once you do first mountain climb and come down it becomes a provincial road through inside of the island and then it transforms into modern road once you reach the middle of the island. Passing by the small towns and seaside you reach the main tunnel going to the city of Hvar and from then it becomes a windy fast modern speedway heading up and down the mountain slopes with stunning view on the sea on your left side.

Hvar road is truly an amazing one - I drive there for last 10 summers on my vacation - and I hope it will be recognised one day by the more worldwide audience.

Here is the map showcase, starting point is on the right (Sucuraj, where the heart is), while ending point is on the left side, at city of Hvar. You can get the idea.

hvar.jpg

And here is the link to Google Maps to check it out.

I do not have Google World installed, but I presume it offers even better idea about the Pharos Road (as I call it).

This video shows the point of ferry disembark at Sucuraj and fast-forwarded (and heavily cut-off, you can see the time-stamps) sections until they've reached the city of Vrboska. It covers the "old" mountain-climb section and middle "more modern" section where you drive inside the Hvar island. After you reach the town of Vrboska (where he turns right from the main road in order to reach the Vrboska) the Pharos Road continues to the final 2 more modern and amazing sections.

We need to keep these threads in a vault or make these threads private or something...and do you know why i say this? Because this is probably going to appear in the next ***** 5 game before even PD thinks about it.
I think Turn10 is looking at us...i mean we are their target and every time we say something that we want for GT it appears in *****.
(sounds crazy i know but that´s the truth)

Also PD should make a www.gran-turismo.com/forum. A forum will be perfect.Every other racing game in the market is doing this and it is working pretty well. A direct "contact" with PD is a must if they want to make this game appealing to the majority.

GTPlanet is the biggest and best community in the world but i don´t think "PD comes here to read or check" all the comments section every day. And the feedback section should be a direct link to gran-turismo.com as well.

Nothing GT players wants appears in the Forza with exceptions of cars.

We asked for variable weather, day/night cycles, return of proper Drivatar system from the first Forza, support for proper FF wheels via HID standard, ability to use wheels and controller at the same time, ability to get different driving suits and helmets, open-wheel vehicles, city tracks, rally and other automotive classes, we begged for proper interior views to be introduced when looking back/left/right from cockpit, proper spatial sounds for surround systems and much more.. and we asked for new tracks. For 3 games now. We got only one track as DLC in last 3 games. And 250 cars. Why would I need more cars in game that already have 500+ cars? I want other things damnit. But I guess cars are easier to sell to masses and keep impression that you deliver what *player wants*. But instead you delivered only what makes you pure profit without improving anything really important inside the core-structure of the game itself. Oh, yeah, they blatantly stole the Autolog system from EA and introduced it as revolutionary Rivals. I guess it counts, because we actually demanded that one.

Also take into account how Forza 4 actually made a horrible cut-off compared to FM3 regarding long roads and city tracks. In Forza 3 we had beautiful long-road environment of gorgeous Rally di Positano, it was cut-off in FM4. Same happened with all city tracks in the series, from the Rio de Janeiro (only in the FM1) and finally New York that was completely cut-off after FM3.

Also, GT have its forum - it is located on appropriate regional parts of the official PS communities and official regional producers for Gran Turismo series are taking notes there.

And yes, PD comes here and reads everything they find interesting. Trust me on that one.

But back on subject, majority of those roads can't be included until game-engines and hardware do not allow for actual streaming in all game modes. And it will take some time I guess to reach that point on consoles.

Oh man I would love something like that! I've driven Tail of the Dragon (Deal's Gap) numerous times at speed. Taken it in my Evo X and S2000. Best fun road on the East Coast USA. Would be a blast to drive virtually without the fear of speeding tickets and uh, death!

Where I live in Oxfordshire, England - Take the A422 from Banbury to Brackley. Not the best in world but it's my favourite drive, I do it for fun some nights in VW Polo. Undulating roads with visibility right up to 1/2 mile down the straights make for great overtaking and corner cutting opportunities. Not to mention the steep bendy hill climbs and their corresponding descents on the drive back. Love it.

A lot of those roads are already in the Feedback section, where this thread should be. If you want them, vote for it there.

Yes, yes and yes! We need more of those threads with good ideas, well represented and explained. Pictures and all... these threads, plus the feedback section topics being voted is what can help us to get new stuff into the games.

I would love to have these roads in GT. And if that will take a long time to model/develop, they can do something for us right now: 3 or 4 different themes on Course Generator (Mountains/Apline, Coastal/Beach, Desert/Canyon, City) + point-to-point tracks = BINGO!

This +1

Would rather have these great driving roads than free roam IMO. :D

Nice. Is this Trial Mountain?

Speaking from this part of the world.

There are some awesome roads in New Zealand. The South Island has some of the most scenic mountain ranges and there's a few famous roads.

Arthur's Pass is a good one, various other one's around Queenstown.

There's even one - Skipper's Canyon. That when you rent a car they tell you that you're not allowed to drive the rental car there. I don't know makes you want to give it a try.

Insterstate 80 stretching from east to west coast USA in a Veyron... Aaaah wet dreams...

Still a great route though fantastic challenge for a veyron

I am somewhat suprised at the lack of requests regarding Japan's mountain passes. Such as Haruna or Akagi. Of course a track creator theme similar to these roads would also be welcome, or any legitimate point to point option for that matter.

I know japan is all fancy and all, but I'm from switzerland and we got great mountain pass also. Italy, Austria and France got also a bunch of awesome road. The road of the big alps in france goes from Lac Léman (near switzerland) to the south of france and it's really awesome, I did it a few times it's a lot of fun to drive there.

I actually went to Hakone and drove the mountain pass there, its' really nice also.

But yeah GT5 is all about track racing and not open space racing, otherwise they would have make proper Rally stage and not something the looks like Rally but isnt.

I really think that for a game like GT5 tracks would be better, like Apricot Hill, Sepang Raceway, Road America or Macao.

Throw great roads from alot of countries make it a world tour.

Want to mention U.S. Route 101 especially the part from San Francisco up through Oregon. You exit San Francisco via the Golden Gate bridge and run up through the Redwoods then your running along wonderful winding roads that follow some of the greatest scenic coastline in the world.

Another favorite is Brunner pass in Austria running down into northern Italy. The Austrian portion is very high speed with long sweeping curves. Once you cross into Italy the curves get tighter until you descend out of the Alps. Fantastic drive.👍👍

I think the name you're avoiding is "Forza". Don't shy away from saying it, as it's the top racing franchise of the generation, representing the top three highest-rated driving/racing games of the generation.

Turn 10 doesn't get inspiration from the GT community, and they don't need it. They have plenty of great feedback from their own base. Turn 10 does stuff and then half a decade later PD considers it, but it didn't originate from the GT base. If anything, GT boards are a place for ideas to die, because fans attack any suggestion for things missing from or needing improvement in GT. If all GT boards vanished, Forza would continue evolving just fine.

Take what the Genki team already has and give us the Shutoku Highway System, I miss TXR (Genki has no plans anymore) and this wonderful highway. PD should connect the SSR's together for a fictional version.
